He took sensitive information to the U.S. and leaked it. No idea why people are surprised to find out that we are all being spied on. I thought it was common knowledge. After all, the U.S. Department of Defense helped fund the creation of the internet starting way back in the 60's, do you think they would pay for something they don't intend to use? Obviously, he had access to other information that could risk the safety of either the U.S. or Russia, possibly both. Think about it, if you were Russia, why would you harbor someone that was known to betray their own county unless they either had something on them, something on us, or both. If he had nothing, Russia would have wanted to part of him. It would be like inviting a jewel thief into your jewelry store. I would hope the U.S. has some kind of black bag operation going on to remove this threat to our nation before it is too late, hopefully it is not too late already. Some hero you guys have.
MitchV. Didn't you know? Any one who f**ks with the US is automatically a hero regardless of what they did or why they did it. That's the way these kids nowadays think anyway. How else would people like Snowden or Manning get this "hero" status crap?
Before you use a word, you should know what it means.
Treason: the crime of trying to overthrow your country's government or of helping your country's enemies during war.
Tell me, how is Snowden standing up against treason of his own people?
If anything, he is putting the people of the U.S. at further risk if he gives secrets to the Russians. Why do you think they gave him refuge? He probably even gave them access to the very surveillance equipment so they could use it against the us.
He's a Hero as the Government went against the Bill of rights, or some sensitive document which was the basis of America. Im from the UK and what I see from the outside is America is a mess of a country. If you lot had more people like him, your country would be a lot better.
