Evolutionists: Why do you care about what what Creationists believe?

Posted by: garfield2710

A question for those who believe in Darwinian Evolution, (or some variety of it).

Because it's factually wrong.

They just need to get over it. It's been proven wrong. The fact it's still well accepted today is just sad.

I'm tired of the preconceived notion that if you believe in religion you can't believe in the bible (or vise versus) because that is not true. Creationism is not the opposite of evolution.

Because they might teach it to their kids.

The adults can believe whatever they want, but they should not be spreading these lies to their kids.

They want to teach it to everyone else's kids

I don't care.

They can believe whatever they want. It doesn't affect me personally, so I don't care.

Lots of reasons. They teach it to their kids, it's factually wrong, they try to force their beliefs on others, it promotes the idea of blind belief, and they try to influence political policy.

@Seido: You can't prove it right or wrong. The missing variable is whether God exists. If God does exists, than you have as much a chance as creationism being true as any other belief. Don't jump the gun and say "It's wrong, period, regardless of anything ever." That kind of reaction kills science. Besides, if everyone went on believing in creationism, the world wouldn't burst into flames and die... Your making an excuse using a reason that is entirely unimportant. A creationist isn't no worse a person than a believer of evolution. As for forcing it on others, I hear this bull all the time, but all I see is "I've never actually got to know a Creationist." I'd say there's likely as many militant evolutionists trying to shove their beliefs down other's throats. Might be more, might be less, but the point is that both sides have a very small number of militant people. Seriously... Way to generalize and show close-mindedness to other beliefs...

Very true, Don.

Don, you can't disprove unicorns and pixy dust or any of that stuff but we still believe they don't exist (well 99% of the population.)

Quite a few reasons. It is wrong, there is no evidence to support it and A LOT of evidence that contradicts it. It goes against the entire scientific way of thinking by drawing a conclusion and looking for the evidence to support the conclusion. Teaching it to anyone as true does them a disfavor. Etc. Etc.

I don't see how 'evolutionists' can shove beliefs down others' throats when the main thing we want is for science to be taught in science classes. Creation is not falsifiable, it has no predictive power, it is not science. Evolution is backed by loads of evidence and has been subject to huge amounts of peer review (more so than most theories because of its controversial nature), and has been verified via the scientific method. Creationists (the ones who attempt to create policy aligned with their faith- the ones we're all referring to with the term) like to hide behind the veil of open-mindedness, but in reality, are quite closed-minded themselves for placing pre-determined ideology above observation.

You have to present evidence, conduct experiments, and prove creationism might be true for it to be a reasonable theory. I don't consider creationism a scientific theory because it doesn't to through the scientific method. It's like you make a hypothesis, skip the experiments, and make your own conclusion without evidence or testing. Yes, we are open-minded to new ideas if they have scientific backing which creationism just doesn't. I'm sorry.

I put "because it is factually wrong", but it is also the fact that creationists care so much about disproving evolution, not one sided like this poll suggests.

I'm pretty sure they made the conclusion before the hypothesis.

Because if they actually knew anything about thier religions past , founding , and actual text thats in thier holy books . If they did thy would not believe what they believe anymore

Think of the children! Why should we let lies persist through the generations. When we become a galactic race we will be the laughing stake of the entire galaxy for believing in a god. I believe aliens will be atheist/agnostic/nonreligious/secular.

What the heck is an "Evolutionist?" Evolution is not a religion, nor is it associated wit with any religion, so why does it sound like that?

Because I find it insulting to hear that kind of bull from anyone who's race I share......
