Don't teach kids useless facts about ancient egypt and pythagorean theorems; teach them how to pay taxes, buy a car, and creativity. Along with many other things they should be teaching you for life, not busy work.
The system is too lax and teaches people a lot of useless crap.
school teaches us WHAT to think not HOW to think :/
I think that this is very true. The things they teach us in school, most of us will probably not use. But at the same time, you need math and reading and science alot so...I don't know.
Schools are not the most effective way to educate all children.
No one wanted to teach a dyslexic kid. So they passed me on. I'd say the school system has failed me horridly.
Because it has and it doesn't have very good education
i think ya'll just hate school. school is a place of learning from the past and not making the same mistakes as our ancestors. If one takes a statistics class or a home mec class they will learn how to balance a check book and manage your money. Tax booklets will straight forward tell you how to fill out a 1040. i was able to do mine correctly, and if i can do it ya'll can do it.
There is no reason that it has. It teaches important things. If school stopped teaching of ancient Egypt, kids wanting to go into history would be screwed over. If schools stopped teaching the Pythagorean theorum, then kids planning on going into math majors would be screwed. Without school, we would not have telephones, history books, cars, ipods, or lots of other things. Without people knowing how to do programing (which is taught in school but often requires mathematical knowledge) many things today would not be available. I am not a big fan of school. In fact, I really don't like school at all but I acknowledge its importance.
