In what circumstances should Marijuana be legalized nationally?

Posted by: geauxpelicans5

I'm asking all that support the legalization of marijuana to simply state why it should be legalized. Some info about its consequences to a person's health would be nice.

I completely screwed this up, sorry I'm new to the website.

Don't worry about the two problem answers geauxpelicans5. People who make poll-after-poll can't seem to make one nearly this straightforward.

The harms of recreational marijuana overwhelm the benefits. I don't see the point in doing an action that is harmful just because there are other things that are harmful.
TBR says2015-04-27T20:53:00.4194287-05:00
The question is about legalization, not if it has any harm.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-27T20:54:28.1393533-05:00
Why do something its benefits don't outweigh the harm?
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-27T20:55:01.2273775-05:00
Typo, forgot the word if.

Mathgeekjoe, do you think we should outlaw alcohol and tobacco?
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-27T20:58:49.9756202-05:00
Before I answer that triangle, I would like to say it is irrelevant. If the process of legalization of marijuana provides more harm than good, it should not be done regardless of the harm of other drugs.
triangle.128k says2015-04-27T21:00:16.0550137-05:00
Alcohol > Marijuana in terms of harm, alcohol is way worse than Marijuana.
triangle.128k says2015-04-27T21:00:38.0339916-05:00
There's no reason to keep alcohol legal if we keep marijuana legal. Marijuana is the safer drug out of the two.
triangle.128k says2015-04-27T21:01:02.6528111-05:00
Also, you seem to have nothing against people using coffee. Too many coffee addicts are out there.
TBR says2015-04-27T21:01:36.7704485-05:00
Again Mathgeekjoe. You are stuck on a personal choice vs. Legalizing something. Your decision to not use is clear. Do you want to keep it legalized? That is the question.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-27T21:02:43.9137093-05:00
You do understand other drugs are irrelevant to whether marijuana itself should be legal. The question should be whether the benefits of legalizing marijuana outweigh its harm, which it does not.

No one is going to take you seriously unless you are at least consistent. Either be in favor of outlawing alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana, or support legalization of all three.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-27T21:14:08.4816857-05:00
Renegader they are three different things with three different effects of legal status. Anyways, if can't argue that marijuana should be legal without bringing up alcohol and tobacco then you don't have any good reasons.
Renegader says2015-04-27T21:18:05.2147207-05:00
It is hypocritical to ignore alcohol and tobacco, that is why we bring it up. Not going to ignore a massive logical flaw in your argument.

No one said we couldn't. Not going to type out my paragraphs if I have already proven your arguments invalid.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-27T21:35:00.8106626-05:00
My argument isn't invalid, I actually didn't say it yet. When I decide to I will explain it. If you don't understand the explanation when I do, it isn't my fault.

I am fairly sure recreational marijuana includes medical marijuana.

There is nothing wrong with tobacco, the only person it puts at risk is yourself, so it is your choice. However, alcohol puts everyone around you at risk. Being drunk is not the same as being high. Alcohol is obviously legal, (otherwise I would've starved to death by now), but if it really should be, then marijuana should be legal as well.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-28T09:20:36.0199238-05:00
"There is nothing wrong with tobacco, the only person it puts at risk is yourself, so it is your choice. " Lets see, there is second hand smoke, third hand smoke, increase strain on health care system, lowered overall productivity. Tobacco clearly doesn't only put the user at risk.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-28T09:21:06.3623128-05:00
Marijuana also doesn't only put the user at risk, it affects everyone.
