The lack of god(s) is a default position.
The lack of belief in something is the default position. People aren't born religious. They learn it from outside sources. Someone who is never subjected to religion will not be religious.
Atheism is a lack of belief. It is not an assertion that there is no God; however some atheists do go that far. But just because some atheists do say that, doesn't mean that that is the definition of atheism. Theism is a learned position. No infant is born religious. Every infant is born an atheist simply because they lack belief in a god.
If non-belief is a belief, then not collecting stamps is a hobby. The faithful are atheistic towards every other man-made deity but their own chosen one. Atheists simply go one deity further.
Atheism involves a concious disbelief, disbelief is still a belief. Therefore, it is not the default position
Religious belief is a product of evolution.
Its human nature to believe in some form of a religion. If anything, atheism is the weird one of the bunch.
the default position is purely agnostic
Agnostic is the default. Not believing one or the other.
As above. Though you can be atheist for all intents and purposes but technically proof could occur no matter how improbable so agnostic is the technical default..
Although I believe there is no supreme being, I believe it is the 'natural' state to believe in some sort of religion, whether it be monotheistic or pagan. When a human looks up at the sky, they want explanations for catastrophes and miracles alike.
A true athiest , is created by the study of God. You aren't born with wisdom.
Everyone starts with that voice in their head. Right?
