If you are giving a comment please explain why you picked the answer you did as a choice deserves an explanation.

Big·ot·ry ˈbiɡətrē/ noun intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself.
TBR says2015-07-08T18:37:10.5389193-05:00
OK. "big·ot·ry ˈbiɡətrē/ noun intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself." in·tol·er·ance ˌinˈtäl(ə)rəns/ noun unwillingness to accept views, beliefs, or behavior that differ from one's own.
Haroush says2015-07-08T18:39:10.8877536-05:00
Now ask yourself is this opposition against an idea or is this against those who are gay?
TBR says2015-07-08T18:41:56.4884403-05:00
I see no reason to separate the two, or any reason to help you justify your bigotry .
Haroush says2015-07-08T18:46:37.1483232-05:00
Even if you used the second definition this still equates to this.. "Tolerance", in contextual isolation, merely means "to put up with." In the context I believe I am intended to assume, "tolerance" serves as a distorted synonym for "respect." Tolerance alone does not support any concept of mutual development or cooperation.
Haroush says2015-07-08T18:48:43.5075132-05:00
So giving the fact someone may be against an idea and is tolerant of those people with that idea, means these people aren't bigots.
Haroush says2015-07-08T18:50:12.8329758-05:00
Checkmate.
Scratch says2015-07-08T18:55:20.9973512-05:00
Is it bigotry to be against polygamy? They shouldn't be 2nd class citizens anymore!
TBR says2015-07-08T20:34:38.2397035-05:00
There is no "checkmate" or.... Well much else here. You asked, I answered. Yes, on this subject, you are being bigoted. No crime there, just what it is.
Haroush says2015-07-08T20:35:33.1852195-05:00
You seem annoyed. I understand.
TBR says2015-07-08T20:39:06.8592140-05:00
I don't see how you could mistake this. I am not annoyed. You started the question, you must have some concern over your issues, or how others are responding to them. I have no issue with this, I am very comfortable.
tajshar2k says2015-07-08T20:44:21.2341194-05:00
I don't really see any reasonable arguments from the Conservative side. Conservatives say marriage is for child bearing, but you see 60 years get married, and they are far past their reproductive stage.
tajshar2k says2015-07-08T20:46:18.6526931-05:00
Besides, you can adopt kids as gay parents. The only factor is the Bible says its wrong. The Bible also encouraged slavery, but nobody makes an issue about it.
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-07-09T15:14:14.1834832-05:00
Well I think now that the word bigot has been thoroughly made out to be bad, of course no one wants to say they dont agree with something.
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-07-09T15:15:18.7420396-05:00
Can you add an answer for "3) all of the above"? Thats where my vote needs to go.
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-07-09T15:16:38.8017528-05:00
@SFabrizi Oh but wait! Youre firing people who wont go against their religious beliefs to marry you. What do you call that?
58539672 says2015-07-09T18:50:57.2691133-05:00
No one is completely accepting of other view points. Everyone has a little bigotry in them, even if they will never admit it.
Teaparty1 says2015-07-10T14:24:41.5051436-05:00
Shouldn't the choices be 1) Bigotry and 2) Not Bigotry...
TBR says2015-07-12T14:23:03.8775418-05:00
@FreedomBeforeEquality - Are you talking about firing people (government employees) that refuse to do their jobs? That are breaking the law? These people? Yes they should be fired.
xhammy says2015-07-12T19:15:42.1853445-05:00
Actually they are not breaking the law, all you can do is sue them or vote them out of office @TBR
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-07-13T12:33:27.7098144-05:00
Sure whatever you want to call it ... It would be telling that person they have to keep their religion out of it, as SFabrizi claims gays would never do. They seem to be doing just that. I would say keep your personal bedroom habits out of government too ... But I guess that makes me a bigot.
Varrack says2015-07-14T20:42:11.4418031-05:00
http://discussingmarriage.org/the-objection-from-bigotry/#.VaW6Y3Pnav0 explains why it is most certainly not bigotry.
TBR says2015-07-14T20:44:56.0025590-05:00
The Hatch Act covers this. Basically, as a government employee you must leave your politics (and religion) at the door. Https://en.Wikipedia.Org/wiki/Hatch_Act_of_1939
TBR says2015-07-14T20:46:58.0585470-05:00
@Varrack - I can say some are, others aren't. There is no simple statement "this is not bigotry".
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-07-15T08:50:36.5196346-05:00
Yeah so invoking the hatch act is the opposite of what SFabrizi was saying. Thats all my point was.
