  • The age of it's population is just the start of it. Other developed countries are going down the same road of having their populous too busy to get into intimate relationship with each other. Politically Japan is normally humble and doesn't escalate international tensions. Their politicians show how kind rather than how tough they are unlike some other developed countries. Technologically their the most merged society.it's the norm to go to concerts with computer generated hologram lead singers over there. That's just a little taste of what i'm talking about when i mean a Technologically merged society. For the past 50 Years Japan has been the uncontested leader of Consumer Electronics, so it controls the market in that regard. The Unique educational system of japan obviously works because their one of the top countries with the highest IQ. I could keep on going. I just think a lot of countries are heading in japans direction.

  • Japan, factually, is one of the top three smartest countries in the world.

Yes, Japan has the oldest population in the world. 33.0% are above age 60, 25.9% are aged 65 or above, 12.5% aged 75 or above
reece says2015-04-07T18:49:36.0674751-05:00
@PetersSmith No. I mean politically, technologically, etc, etc, etc. I mean every function of Japans society.
reece says2015-04-07T18:51:44.6824708-05:00
I already know the statistics. I wouldn't of put it up if i was meaning just the age of the population.

It seems that people aren't looking at the full scope of my question.

No reece. Just responding to my first reaction to the question.

No, Israel is. America was but...
Vox_Veritas says2015-04-07T19:32:12.2900455-05:00
No. It's not at the absolute top. That honor would belong to certain European countries, such as Switzerland or Norway.
reece says2015-04-07T20:03:45.2668414-05:00
@Vox_Veritas why would that be?
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-07T20:28:23.7284089-05:00
We need a face off of which nation is more mature, US or Japan.
reece says2015-04-07T20:29:02.9772541-05:00
HAHA you're joking right?
reece says2015-04-07T20:30:29.5243897-05:00
There will be huge bias because this is an american based website after all.
reece says2015-04-07T21:52:48.5298070-05:00
@briantheliberal Just because something is cute doesn't mean their not mature.
reece says2015-04-07T21:55:16.9461987-05:00
Their culture i mean.
Diqiucun_Cunmin says2015-04-07T22:52:54.6634928-05:00
I think the most important factor is morality. The level of morality in Japan is... Well... I think you know what I'm talking about.
Diqiucun_Cunmin says2015-04-07T22:57:02.7632857-05:00
Socially, don't forget that Japan is probably the most patriarchal and sexist society in the developed world.
reece says2015-04-07T23:01:04.9642279-05:00
@Diqiucun_Cunmin You mean what happens in their trains?
reece says2015-04-07T23:20:37.0944865-05:00
I agree their patriarchal though for obvious reasons. That's their only fault but other than that their 30 years ahead of other developed countries in terms of techno-progressivism.
Diqiucun_Cunmin says2015-04-08T01:30:21.7501270-05:00
@reece's first post: Yeah, that sort of thing.
reece says2015-04-08T11:15:12.7085117-05:00
@Diqiucun_Cunmin It's blown out of proportion. You know how they get squeezed into trains and that? Well there would be more people thus more bad apples taking advantage of it. If the UK, USA, ect had the same problem with their public transport i guarantee they would have a bigger problem per capita.
Diqiucun_Cunmin says2015-04-08T19:38:12.4137764-05:00
@reece: We get squeezed into trains in Hong Kong too. In busier areas, you have to wait for so long that you don't get to board until the fifth train or so during rush hours. I don't have stats but I think the situation is worse in Japan. Besides, when I said that 'kind of' thing I don't just mean what they do to women in trains... Their decadence is reflected in other places too... And I think you know what I mean.
reece says2015-04-08T22:58:45.8964403-05:00
@Diqiucun_Cunmin Why do you think it's worse in japan? Decadence? I don't know what you mean? There is normally "Decadence" in wealthy countries. It's a normal thing.
reece says2015-04-08T23:09:33.9859768-05:00
BTW sexual harassment has nothing to do with Decadence.
reece says2015-04-08T23:09:56.5587427-05:00
It happens either way.
Diqiucun_Cunmin says2015-04-08T23:11:56.3922902-05:00
Decadence is 'moral degeneration or decay; turpitude.' That is happening in Japan. I'm not saying it doesn't happen elsewhere; I'm saying a place with moral degeneration cannot be considered mature.
TBR says2015-04-08T23:12:16.2846729-05:00
@reece - Whats your take on sexual harassment?
Diqiucun_Cunmin says2015-04-08T23:14:15.7325709-05:00
By the way, what they said about the Diaoyus in this years Diplomatic Bluebook clearly shows that they aren't 'normally humble and doesn't escalate international tensions', but just pretending to be that.
Diqiucun_Cunmin says2015-04-08T23:14:25.3433558-05:00
*year's
reece says2015-04-08T23:33:05.7744265-05:00
@Diqiucun_Cunmin Again, why do you think it's worse in Japan? Please don't skip my questions. Decadence is cultural moral decay characterized by excessive indulgence in pleasure or luxury, etc. Christians and many other religious people have been proclaiming Decadence in developed countries for many many many years but of course they want us to live in the iron age. Do you get my point? So what country do you consider mature? Take what i just said into consideration.
reece says2015-04-08T23:33:37.0259162-05:00
@Diqiucun_Cunmin Can you give me a link?
Diqiucun_Cunmin says2015-04-08T23:34:48.5452501-05:00
I'm not saying it's worse in Japan, just that it means they don't get to be called 'mature' because of it. I know it happens in other places too. If you ask me, I don't think any countries can be reasonably called 'mature' yet, at this point.
reece says2015-04-08T23:34:58.4170830-05:00
@TBR Can you give me a more explicit question?
Diqiucun_Cunmin says2015-04-08T23:36:44.4666208-05:00
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/decadence?s=t Why do you say that restricting desires mean 'going back to the iron age'?
reece says2015-04-08T23:39:20.0892280-05:00
@Diqiucun_Cunmin You said "I don't have stats but I think the situation is worse in Japan." and i'm just asking why do you think that.Or are you going to withdraw that statement? Okay, what country do you think is the most mature/developed? That's what i meant.
TBR says2015-04-08T23:40:20.6872841-05:00
Do you ass issues of gender equality into the calculus of this question? If so, what is your take?
reece says2015-04-08T23:41:39.9292086-05:00
No, can you give me a link on what you said about the Diplomatic Bluebook? Iron age was an exaggeration but do you get what i meant?
reece says2015-04-08T23:44:42.0651126-05:00
@TBR Yes it's a problem but a very small one. Japans men are feminine in a good way.
reece says2015-04-08T23:46:10.6526169-05:00
@TBR I should of worded it better but you get my point?
Diqiucun_Cunmin says2015-04-08T23:46:29.2657750-05:00
Sorry, I thought you meant moral decadence when you said 'worse'. I think it's worse because Japanese males (modern ones anyway) are notorious for their lust. I'm not saying it applies to all Japanese males, but what's the first thing you think of when you hear Japan, apart from seafood, ninjas, samurai, cars and robots? Again, I don't think *any* country is mature at all. I think most developed countries are either a) still trapped by religious shackles and won't move forward, b) embraced liberalism and consequently decadence, hedonism, sexual openness and other perverted values or c) a mix of the first two, and are thus immature.
Diqiucun_Cunmin says2015-04-08T23:49:14.9725629-05:00
http://en.ce.cn/National/foreignaffairs/201404/05/t20140405_2608231.shtml Restricting desires =/= backward. Restricting desires means going *forward* if it is done the proper way, by enforcing the correct values of benevolence, righteousness, propriety and wisdom, and thereby limiting the 'lesser part of the body', as explained in Mencius 11.15.
reece says2015-04-09T00:10:11.3056270-05:00
@Diqiucun_Cunmin You're ignoring a lot of what i say. I disagree with your first half of your paragraph. So if no countries are mature, are all of them equal? And then you say some more things i disagree with.
reece says2015-04-09T00:10:40.8509041-05:00
You know about the Senkaku islands in Japan right?
reece says2015-04-09T00:22:09.4098209-05:00
Here is a none biased paper on it. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-pacific-11341139
TBR says2015-04-09T00:47:09.2348195-05:00
Well the point is , pay in equity and position purity are very bad in Japan. It's reasonable to say almost the worst of first world countries. I can't look up the statistics now, but it's abysmal .
reece says2015-04-09T01:02:31.9808321-05:00
@TBR What country would you advocate for?
Diqiucun_Cunmin says2015-04-09T02:28:51.4721236-05:00
@reece: What did you say I ignore? I can't tell what you think I've ignored without a quote feature like the one we have in the forums. Sorry I linked to the wrong article. This one's about the 2015 bluebook: http://usa.chinadaily.com.cn/world/2015-04/07/content_20019610.htm The Diaoyu Islands are the Diaoyu Islands; to call them Senkaku is to be biased. I don't think all countries are equal. It's hard to tell which countries are 'less immature' because there are many things to factor in, but I think no countries have passed a point we can call 'mature'. I think that to be called mature, a society needs to have progressed beyond the point that our desires dictate how people act, beyond the point that desires must be suppressed by those who preach religion (i.E. The (a) societies - more conservative countries) and certainly beyond the point that desires are openly indulged in (i.E. The (b) societies - more liberal countries). Of course they also need economic prosperity, technological advancement and whatnot, but I think these are not only much easier with a high level of morality but also of lesser importance.
reece says2015-04-09T04:04:54.9974286-05:00
Nvm, your paragraphs are just getting longer. CBF responding.
