Is making better adoption facilities and facilities to help women give birth to unwanted children a better way of reducing abortions?

  • I'd absolutely be for this. The "universal health care" thing isn't an idea that I'm crazy about, but for maternal care for minors the Government and/or private charitable organizations need to step in and provide this service. History has shown that the only alternative to this is women killing their children.

  • If you want to reduce abortions then that would be the way to compensate for the lack of abortions.

A better way than what?
RXR says2015-04-11T10:56:31.1259385-05:00
Pro-life of course.
TBR says2015-04-11T11:12:14.9464193-05:00
RXR - The infrastructure for adoption and care is... Ignored. The question is, if "pro-life" wants to reduce abortion (knowing that outlawing would NOT eliminate abortion) then why not work on the infrastructure? It seems to me that pro-life works COUNTER to building the infrastructure.
RXR says2015-04-11T11:25:43.0166748-05:00
Of course outlawing abortion wouldn't stop it. But there is a way people can decrease illegals abortion by building therapy centers, adoption facilities, etc. Anything is better than dismembering a fetus as a last resort.
TBR says2015-04-11T11:28:33.8892573-05:00
Right, so how about working on those solutions. Or, are you just hoping to outlaw it, and then suffer the failure of an already overburdened system?
TBR says2015-04-11T11:29:39.9079235-05:00
How about starting with supporting Planed Parenthood? They have done MORE to reduce abortion that every pro-life group I know of.
RXR says2015-04-11T11:34:38.0853981-05:00
Yes it should be outlawed. “The right to life is the first among human rights.” – Pope Francis
TBR says2015-04-11T11:37:41.7358574-05:00
RXR - How about support for SNAP, WICK and HUD. Ready to support dramatic additional funding?
RXR says2015-04-11T11:37:46.0004204-05:00
Give me an article that supports this claim
TBR says2015-04-11T11:44:28.1639402-05:00
Are you kidding? Show me the pro-life national program for providing contraception, education, counselling etc. I am not saying they reduce overall abortions, I am saying I know of no pro-life schema that HAS reduced abortion MORE than PP.
TBR says2015-04-11T11:46:23.1090308-05:00
How about the question of the other components of infrastructure. HFS is going to need a TON more money. HUD and all food and medical programs. Ready to support them?
Vox_Veritas says2015-04-11T11:47:51.9099670-05:00
I believe that the use of contraceptives is immoral, but it hurts no one so that should be allowed. Abortion, on the other hand, kills somebody, so it should not be allowed. If Planned Parenthood encourages the use of non-abortifacient birth control, I do not agree with them and will not condone their tactics, but I suppose that it's better than them supporting abortion. Still, they do support abortion, so they are not worthy of any level of praise. I say that when the fetus is in existence, it should be too late to undo the pregnancy. But preventing pregnancy from occurring should be allowed.
Vox_Veritas says2015-04-11T11:50:21.9384149-05:00
The Pro-Life movement has tried to get teens to abstain from sex until marriage, which is the only sure way to prevent pregnancies. However, as our culture encourages sex before marriage, the Pro-Abstinence movement's gains are being undermined on a regular basis.
RXR says2015-04-11T11:55:09.1955866-05:00
Planned Parenthood doesn't reduce abortions, in-fact they increase abortions. Most pp are around college campuses and advertise their services to young teens through the media. Hell if you type up in google '' Is a Fetus a person'' the first thing you get is a planned parenthood ad. Abortions = money So it would make sense that Planned Parenthood would want to increase abortions.
TBR says2015-04-11T11:57:21.1043768-05:00
@Vox_Veritas & RXR. Right, so you are spitting in the wind! Tell me. 1) one org that has done more to reduce abortion than PP [find it, I may be wrong] || 2) Are you ready to support big increases in A) HUD B) SNAP, WICK, HUD, HFS and medicaid.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-11T12:00:05.2841837-05:00
"How about starting with supporting Planed Parenthood? They have done MORE to reduce abortion that every pro-life group I know of." Still 3% of what they do is abortions. Why would a pro-lifer fund planned Parenthood, wouldn't it be better to fund some organization that does everything planned parenthood does except abortion?
TBR says2015-04-11T12:00:39.1581680-05:00
RXR - You are using faulty logic. "Planned Parenthood doesn't reduce abortions, in-fact they increase abortions." They may increase abortion overall, however, they are also responsible reduction in the necessity of abortion. My contention is there is no other pro-life anything that has done more in this effort. Show any.
TBR says2015-04-11T12:02:23.9569526-05:00
How about that Mathgeek. Why aren't you guys doing that? You see my issue I think.
RXR says2015-04-11T12:03:40.5670793-05:00
Show me a link that says that pp reduces abortions.
Vox_Veritas says2015-04-11T12:05:31.5901442-05:00
Planned Parenthood does do some good stuff, such as STD screening and cancer treatment (I think). However, that doesn't excuse their providing of abortion services. To claim that they "reduce" abortion is preposterous; they provide birth control, which increases the number of sexual encounters, which increases the number of pregnancies.
TBR says2015-04-11T12:10:45.1853971-05:00
RXR - one of PP primary services is to provide free and low cost contraception. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Simple question, no trick.
TBR says2015-04-11T12:12:46.8299318-05:00
Let me run my questions again since every one seems to blow by them. The above about PP
TBR says2015-04-11T12:13:09.7834364-05:00
Will you support increasing budgets to SNAP & WICK
TBR says2015-04-11T12:13:26.8418960-05:00
Will you support additional funding to HUD
TBR says2015-04-11T12:13:46.2123080-05:00
Will you support additional funding to HFS and medicare
RXR says2015-04-11T12:14:15.7834289-05:00
Yes, but i don't see why someone would buy it from some where else other than planned death-hood.
TBR says2015-04-11T12:14:39.2153789-05:00
No tricks about any of these questions. The poll is about building infrastructure to support the load from additional births from reduction of abortion.
TBR says2015-04-11T12:16:54.5869130-05:00
OK, so, first. RXR, you agree that PP is providing something that reduces the need for abortion. Look, I am not picking on you, I am working here. Working with you. Can we confirm that you are saying PP is working to reduce the need for abortion, and they are currently the ... Best national org doing this? I know you hate them, thats not the question.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-11T12:18:46.5551180-05:00
Why not get a new organization to do the same thing just without the abortions?
TBR says2015-04-11T12:24:48.9271894-05:00
Mathgeek - Why not indeed. Why aren't the pro-lifers working on that? RXR, would you substantially support (politically and financially) a national org that works to reduce abortion through education, providing low/no cost contraception etc... But WITHOUT the 3% abortion services?
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-11T12:26:53.8107929-05:00
"RXR, would you substantially support (politically and financially) a national org that works to reduce abortion through education, providing low/no cost contraception etc... But WITHOUT the 3% abortion services?" That would be a good poll question for pro-lifers.
TBR says2015-04-11T12:26:53.9142605-05:00
I also really want some honest answers to my other questions. How about it. Are we going to build the infrastructure or not. Want to see failure of prohibition? Its easy to see, and it is ugly without proper support.
PetersSmith says2015-04-11T12:30:07.5862147-05:00
Some women wouldn't want to know that they "abandoned" their child in a sense, a child that will never know their real mom, or that a child of a rapist is still alive.
RXR says2015-04-11T12:31:58.5646147-05:00
-peter It's better than being dismembered and having your lifeless body flushed down the sewers that's for sure
TBR says2015-04-11T12:40:06.4037343-05:00
For what its worth, I am attempting to get somewhere on this. I am working WITH pro-life on this one. Please everyone on the pro-life side. Just take a honest stab at my questions.
TBR says2015-04-11T12:45:59.5752495-05:00
I just hate the formatting limits on the polls. It makes it so hard to deal with anything complex. Let’s try to bring some organization to my part of the conversation. On each enumerated question, would you support it politically, financially and agree it is necessary in an environment where abortion is reduced. 1) National system of free or low-cost contraception 2) National system for sexual education 3) Additional funding for SNAP & WICK 4) Additional funding for HUD 5) Additional funding for HFS 6) Additional funding for Medicaid
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-11T13:08:56.1938745-05:00
You might want to put your questions in a list, these comments are a mess.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-11T13:09:41.8697961-05:00
Woops, you posted them in order already.
TBR says2015-04-11T13:54:22.5964662-05:00
Mathgeejoe - I am both disappointed and surprised by the lack of respondents. If we are all pushing for reduction to elimination of abortion, these questions need to be Front and center. In my opinion, they are of equal importance to when A fetus begins to dream, and a place we can all start from to achieve all our goals.
TBR says2015-04-11T13:55:18.6029532-05:00
Unsurprised. (On the damn phone)
TBR says2015-04-11T14:09:17.7965591-05:00
Just as a point of reference. There are roughly 1,200,000 adoptions each year in the US. There are slightly more than 1 million abortions per year in the US. There are nowhere near enough adoptive family's for the children currently in the system. Double that number per year, and realize the exponential growth. The system will need enormasus resources. This is a practical problem that must be addressed.
