Is romantic love over-rated by society?

Posted by: zmikecuber

Society seems to think that romantic love is the highest good, and will make you perfectly happy. You hear it in every song, every movie, ever disney princess fairy tale, etc. Is romantic love all it's cracked up to be, or is it overrated?

Bettabreeder On Maslow's hierarchy of needs, love comes third. And that is affectionate love, validation, acceptance, and then romantic relationships that may lead to sexual relationships. Love is not needed to procreate as you should be able to aptly see daily on the news and media with unwanted kids being born by the dozens. I think what the question was pointing out is that romantic love is like a "honeymoon period" where everything is new and googly eyed, by the test of time and you still love each other is the real deal.
