Is the criterion of voting of 'who cited the most sources' right?

IN DEBATES, DO WE NEED PROOFS FOR EVERYTHING WE SAY? Even for everything usual? Is this not hampering new ideas?

  • It is rationally rational to cite your source even when you say: My coffee is currently hot.

  • We must judge. This criterion is logically wrong.

  • We need to know the debater is not just making everything up, but is informed about their arguments. Of course, we don't have to cite everything, but the most debatable issues should be backed up.

That isn't the criterion. The criterion is "who used the most RELIABLE sources". When you are in a debate that requires citations, reliable sources DO and SHOULD matter. In debates that are more opinionated, this category can simply be deemed a tie. The sources point is a valid category.

This is a tough choice as I do not believe both options given sum up the situation adequately. Sources are necessary when you are making outrageous claims. Additionally, if you are using something that people do not know to build upon its best to give a source. In that way the reader can read the original and see if your rationale makes sense. If its a completely new and independent idea, then sources are not necessary but then your argument must be thorough. Additionally, you can ask voters not to vote on sources in the opening round.

The question is totally flawed. 'Most sources' isn't a voting point. 'Most reliable sources' is a voting point, and it should be.
