Is the "Park" Test a Really Bad Tool For Student Testing? (Read Description If you Don't Know What This Test Is)

Posted by: Dishoungh

In case you don't know what the Park Test is (actually, I don't know what the actual name of the test is, I'm just inputting what I heard), the Park Test is this test that my school district has newly "introduced". My English teacher, who works inside the district and knows most of the stuff what goes on with the school board, was talking about it at the end of class and whatever. She says that this Park Test is this test that 9th-12th graders have to take in March, which is essentially a High-School benchm

  • It's okay

  • That's the most retarded thing I've ever heard of.

She says that this Park Test is this test that 9th-12th graders have to take in March, which is essentially a High-School benchmark test. So, she says that this test is designed to measure if we're "failing" in the school department or not. She says that when you're taking this test, you have to guess all of the questions right. If you get ONE question wrong (doesn't matter what question it was), ALL OF THE TEST IS WRONG and you fail the test, even though you got everything else right. So, if you fail this test, they will put you into remediation. That's all my teacher knows. She says my State (Arkansas) is trying to take over the entire school district. What do you guys think about this test

Dishoungh: Sounds like your teacher isn't a reliable source.

I think you may be referring to the "Perk" test, as for the teacher sounds like shes trying to make sure her class does well

@PetersSmith Yeah because it's not like I can get this information anywhere else. It's not like my English teacher is head of the English education department of Arkansas or anything.

I think that's only seeing how students act under pressure . Or encourage ing students to do well enough to get into advanced classes.

@Formerland1 I don't see how having students feel extreme pressure and fear to the point where they feel they will fail, make them do well. I'm completely sure that will do almost the complete opposite. Confidence (not overconfidence) helps students do well most of the time.
