Yes, there is money in politics which is a sign of a failed democracy.
No, the voter still has the power to elect officials they choose.
all round a failed country, filled with failed people
Most of the people aren't failed, but the government has failed the people. Corrupt politicians catering to special interest groups rather than the majority of the people.
I am saying yes, not because it has failed yet, but because it is well on its way. Our complacent society, people being told what to believe, instead of actually learning, and using their own judgement to determine the course of their nation is driving us off a cliff. Happy landings.
The lack of effective choice and the major influence of american corporations in lobbying the government for their ends is why it has failed the people of the country.
Keep coming up with conspiracy theories to make USA look bad :)
On the Corruption Perceptions Index, the US was in 17th place as one of the least corrupt nations on the planet. People always go on and on about how corrupt the US is without even knowing what real corruption actually is.
Despite all the money being involved in politics, I still believe people have the power over the government at this point. It may not be much considering all the corruption, but we still do hold more power over our government than the government holds over the American citizens.
America is an evolved democratic model that does what it says on the can. Everyone is afforded opportunity, not necessarily equally but nevertheless it is afforded them.
