Well, anyone who knows Christ knows that is not following him. But the woman is an atheist and is cherry picking one place and there are hundreds of thousands of Christian communities that aren't crazy. At the end of the day, when you choose to follow Christ, you can not follow a King, Country, State, Church, or Organization. You must follow Christ. There is much more to all of this than we can fathom. If there is not a God and Christ, then life really is a bunch of BS and worthless. Also, who are we kidding? Don't you think the devil is smart enough to masquerade as a Christian to discredit them? The devil works both sides of everything. Hate to tell people.
No all thanks to the shortsightedness of man. Ego. Greed. Arrogance. People blame God way too much. God gave free will and that is exactly what he gave. Look around you. Man causes all the problems. Not God.
His plan entails giving man free will. He gave that. What man does with it is on man. Most every problem we have today could be solved by man if man was more selfless. All the solutions rest with man. We know the solutions. We just wont do it because of our stupidity and fear.
I get it, but what you don't get is that this is not relevant. He gave free will and when you give free will, you cannot interfere. You cannot interfere and still remain all power and all knowing. He just knows man is going to keep screwing up and hence, this is why his son will need to come back.
Okay lets revise: GOD IS ALL KNOWING AND POWERFUL right? Thus he knows every single thing/potential that has, can and will happen, right? He made the universe/humanity, right? Now if you agree to all of them wouldn't that mean he is responsible for every action that has/will ever happen?
God cannot be responsible for us when he gives us free will, otherwise we would not have free will. Look at Christ, he came to be an example for us and to help us with life, but we rejected him and killed him. The amazing thing about Christ is that even after that, he still loves us and will help us. But make no mistake, we are responsible for ourselves. If there is anyone I would trust, it is Christ. When you look at his life, his perspective is amazing. Simply amazing. He will also be there for us when we die. Of this I am certain.
Whether or not the bible is contradictory is not relevant to this conversation. Stop deflecting. You do not have free will? Interesting seeing as though you have a choice in every thing you do. Like right now, is someone forcing you to comment on this topic? Are you doing it against your will?
Higher cognitive function?
And 'freewill' hasn't been established. Do we really have "free" will, or are we programmed by our experiences and the training we receive, to be pre-disposed to certain choices given specific stimuli?
Free will is nothing but a buzzword for theologians to bicker over.
Behaviorists scoff at such lofty and ultimately useless examinations.
I don't understand? Please. I understand completely. Your position is just BS. You have all the free will in the world and you know it. You just don't understand that things don't always work out the way you like. Because of this, you rationalize that all your decisions were not your own.
The reality is that right now you can do anything you want to do. Now, all things may not be available to you because other people have free will of their own, but you can choose to go do anything you wish. If you want to go eat a hamburger you can, if you want to rob a bank you can, if you want to go have sex you can, etc. Now another person who has free will may not choose to sell you a hamburger, the bank may not let you rob it, and a woman may not want to have sex with you.
I believe your brain is like a computer. It is the ultimate computer. When you think, you access your life database and consider all your previous experiences and then you consider all the experiences you have never had but have learned about via research and other people's testimonies. All of that constitutes a decision and it takes time. It also causes neurons to fire and hence, electrical impulses. It by no means implies a predetermine thought. It only implies that the process takes energy. That is all. By the way, I am not insulting you. I actually think you have good intelligence. I have read your comments on other topics and they are pretty solid I think.
If it not predetermined, then it has to be free will. I think God gives everyone free will and he stands back. What few people talk about is that all the free wills collide with each other and those collisions create a new subset of decisions to make. What they also don't talk about is that through prayer God may open up another set of circumstances. I believe this occurs because this life is a test and a learning experience. It is kind of like a teacher. The teacher never stops at the first chapter in a book. He continues to add new circumstances and new chapters that aid in the development of the student. Now, the student still has free will. They can choose to study or not.
I don't believe in free will nor predetermined thought because every disition you make has a naturale exsplination which has an awnser to why you "chose" it.Here is what i believe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_Complexity/Consciousness
