Learning something: Have another person show you how, Or read up about how?

Posted by: Xaphiir

For instance lets say driving a clutch. Would you rather read about how to use a stickshift or would you rather have someone show you how, and have a more "hands on" experience.

  • Have someone teach you.

  • Read instructions on how.

  • I rather read the instructions and then practice it alone. It's easier not to feel so self-conscious that way.

Both preferably , the deciding factor would be if the person I'm asking knows alot about it or if the book is very detailed .

Well obviously the person knows what they're doing well enough to train you. The instructions would be like any other instructions, very standard.

How you learn depends upon the "way" your brain learns or processes. Some people are audio learners. They learn by hearing. Others are visual learners. They obviously learn by seeing. Others are a combination of both. Then, there are Kinesthetic learners who are "hands on" in the process. No two people are the same.
