Briantheliberal: I personally feel that empathy is extremely important. Machiavell feels that one should appear just, but acting purely on virtue will never allow you to gain and/or stay in power (AKA step on the weak to get to the top).

@reissalvin1998: A lot of what you said would be pretty much irrelevant without empathy, though.
