@CannedBread You don't judge a country off one person..
CannedBread says2015-07-01T16:18:34.1795578-05:00
And reece, back to our conversation at the USA poll, you said its a good country. If someone says America is a great country, it doesn't mean they don't understand that it has flaws. I could say Zimbabwe is a great country, while still understanding that it has many a flaw.
CannedBread says2015-07-01T16:19:38.6001341-05:00
My previous answer was fueled by rage, so I have switched.
reece says2015-07-01T16:22:14.6688613-05:00
@CannedBread I'm also comparing countries. Zimbabwe compared to central Europe is a piece of sh_t.
CannedBread says2015-07-01T16:23:09.4695535-05:00
And what are you comparing America to?
reece says2015-07-01T16:23:21.1276163-05:00
New Zealand compared to them is pretty good. America, not so much.
CannedBread says2015-07-01T16:25:20.6379155-05:00
You haven't answered my question. On the poll about your opinion on America, what countries are you comparing America to?
reece says2015-07-01T16:29:08.0001175-05:00
@CannedBread central Europe... That's the pinnacle.

@Donderpants Finally another kiwi.

Considering that most of Europe is on an economic decline or stagnating (except for Germany and the UK. They are doing rather well) I would not say that Europe is better than the US at the moment. The EU as a whole has about the same GDP as the US, but has a significantly slower growth rate than the US, lower GPD per capita, higher interests rates, higher unemployment, higher cost of living (housing, food, etc.), and higher tax rates (both personal income tax and corporate tax). They have a marginally lower debt per GDP, but that gap is quickly closing between the two (mainly due to a decrease in the deficit for the US and an increase for the EU).
reece says2015-07-01T22:25:52.3888170-05:00
Yes, I've considered that.
reece says2015-07-01T22:28:13.9615395-05:00
The happiness of people is whats important.
58539672 says2015-07-02T00:25:13.1917221-05:00
@reece Ive answered the happiness thing in the US version of this poll. Please refer to it for my response. http://www.debate.org/polls/opinion-on-the-usa/?cid=7B81D983-B102-4C22-9859-C8AFADE066DD

To summarize, the US is a very happy nation.
Varrack says2015-07-02T00:41:05.8864428-05:00
I don't really care about NZ because it's just not comparable to the US. No countries are really.
reece says2015-07-02T01:07:31.0173255-05:00
@58539672 okay...
reece says2015-07-02T01:29:24.6895704-05:00
@Varrack the poll didn't ask you to compare it to the US.

@freedomBeforeEquality How does there being nothing to see here make it negative? That should be neutral. And regardless, New Zealanders would be universally insulted by being called another Australia. And we're not even close to Canada. New Zealand still has a large amount of it's native forest, we have many well known international figures such as Peter Jackson and Lorde, I'd understand Neutral, but no need for negative.
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-07-02T14:05:42.9617618-05:00
Oh sorry ... I was celebrating diversity. Is it insulting that a New Zealander could go to any other country out there and be mistaken for an Australian? People would probably even mistake both of those countries people as being English or American before they ever got down on the list of guesses to New Zealand. Does that say anything about a country's greatness to you?
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-07-02T14:10:58.9458383-05:00
Population should be an enormous factor on rating of a country. Of course everyones happier in a less dense country ... Nobody likes each other. Large amounts of native forests are great, sure, but only doable when you dont have 319 Million people living on your island. If I had bought that oil derrick country they were selling in the North Sea a while back I wouldve had the happiest and best country on earth ... And it would have been easy with just a few people as citizens.

Their cricket team is playing brilliantly these days.

Except they lost badly to Australia.

I think John Oliver said it best, It's "Australia's Australia".
