Question for pro-life.

Posted by: TBR

Imagine you are a firefighter. You come on the seen of a burning clinic. On one side of the building is a lab with many viable embryos. The other, a small child. You can only save one. What is your choice and why?

  • Many embryos.

  • Child

  • Embryos. Parents out there could have had them saved, they might be infertile, theres alot of lost hope there. Also there is a greater chance to save more there since they are likely sealed and arent going to die of asphyxiation during the rescue. He can carry a great many more of them ... in effect helping more parents/people than the one child could account for. They cant make noise though or call out for rescue ... so im sure we wont see him running that way. In the heat of the moment he's not going to have time to think about what the most logical thing to do is either, unfortunately. I suppose you could compare that same desperation and ill-logic to people getting abortions as well though.

  • A bunch of people versus one. Easy decision.

  • What Freedombeforeequality said.

  • TBR just rekt u all

  • Pro-lifers got rekt m8

  • The child is capable of feeling much more pain, so by the principle of benevolence they should come first.

  • Whether it's right or not, I'd grab the baby and not think twice.

  • The baby was already born

  • A baby is a living, breathing person and embryo's are just cells. I'd rather not hear the screams of a burning child either. Cells don't feel the pain that the child will, and if I left that baby behind it would traumatize me, unlike with the embryos.

  • both would suck to have burned but the embyros couldn t feel pain and a baby could but that doesnt mean that embryos arent living babies

Tbr. Would you save a 30 YEAR OLD CRIMINAL OR A FETUS?
TBR says2015-10-13T21:48:52.6565818Z
Why not Dilara. Look, I asked for YOU to answer and say way. Try that first, and I will be more verbose.
tajshar2k says2015-10-13T21:54:20.4032845Z
Wow TBR went try hard over here...
TBR says2015-10-13T21:57:14.7678376Z
I don't expect many honest answer's, but hope the thought exercise is tried regardless.
Bob13 says2015-10-13T22:13:53.0778355Z
What thought exercise?
TBR says2015-10-13T22:23:14.4413966Z
This one Bob. No need to be obtuse
Bob13 says2015-10-13T22:40:07.9125202Z
What are trying to tell me by posting this poll?
TBR says2015-10-13T22:44:36.4560844Z
Just asking the question Bob. Just like any other. Click on your answer, and commit how you please.

This isn't ignorance, this is arrogance and stupidity. It's sickening.
Teaparty1 says2015-10-13T23:39:45.3671651Z
Good question
stargate says2015-10-14T16:20:05.1812038Z
@TBR I am honest
TBR says2015-10-14T16:56:19.5444477Z
@stargate - I am proud of you and Dilara. I'm not calling all the others out as lairs, but I think the question is worth honest reflection.
TBR says2015-10-14T16:57:16.6712815Z
So, I guess I should answer Dilara's question now. Yea, I would save the criminal.
cgerard says2015-10-14T17:12:40.2493714Z
That's a very gray area, that question about the criminal. Did he rape an entire nursing home before burning it to the ground with the occupants locked inside? Or did he get caught with a joint? I'd imagine I'd still save the criminal. Did you know you can be put in jail for feeding the homeless in some places? Be careful with that "criminal" label.
TBR says2015-10-14T17:20:08.8182867Z
Yea, you can start to read-in lots of extraneous information, but just take it as it is. Its like the trolley car question. So, all the guys on the track are black, what then...
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-10-14T20:13:25.9880478Z
I like how everyone immediately jumps to how much pain that baby can feel. How about how much pain that baby is going to cause everyone when it grows up? You all base its value on the hope that it will provide some good in the world, which is just that, hope. Basing its worth all on its potential. Well, what more potential does it have (in this modern age) than that of 2 fetuses in a lab? Ill tell you, exactly one less than the two fetuses. Were this the dark ages and it was a miracle that a child survived birth at all ... Then maybe i'd be in favor of saving the already born baby, it is not the case now. Wait till the day humans can be remade from any amount of tissue. What worth will someone who is already born have over the unborn? That line should already be gone given where we are at with technology.
TBR says2015-10-14T20:24:38.2205751Z
FreedomBeforeEquality - Only one person mentioned pain.
TBR says2015-10-14T21:18:07.3426878Z
Here are some nice toddlers killed by US bombs.
TBR says2015-10-14T21:18:59.5568919Z
I don't know how much of the body needs to be removed until it is the other way around and beheading.

FreedomBeforeEquality is right
reece says2015-10-15T00:39:57.0911631Z
@TBR FreedomBeforeEquality pretty much made the same argument i made about the potential of good and bad when we PMed you. But instead of him applying it to the many embryos, he applies it to the toddler.
reece says2015-10-15T00:41:08.9773455Z
When we PMed each other*
Wylted says2015-10-15T00:42:23.1099711Z
I'm pro life, but I don't think embryos are human
Wylted says2015-10-15T01:04:27.7742537Z
I just call myself pro life, because I'm against late term abortions.
Wylted says2015-10-15T01:06:23.6513109Z
Well, unless it's a medical emergency or something, and then I'd say late term abortion is okay
reece says2015-10-15T01:18:07.1996028Z
It's not worth calling yourself pro-life then.
reece says2015-10-15T01:24:23.1369918Z
@Wylted pro-life is what the right-wing use to make themselves feel better.
triangle.128k says2015-10-15T01:50:44.2572378Z
@reece I'm pro-life up until birth, because they shouldn't have the right to life if their parents don't pay for healthcare.
UtherPenguin says2015-10-15T01:53:08.0608032Z
@Reece m8, I'm on the *far* left and still pro life
reece says2015-10-15T01:54:14.0999119Z
@triangle.128k Walk me through your reasoning.
triangle.128k says2015-10-15T01:55:23.6910658Z
@reece I'm being sarcastic
reece says2015-10-15T01:56:45.7777396Z
@UtherPenguin Yeah, we all are, but it's not worth calling yourself it.
reece says2015-10-15T01:57:52.3918710Z
@triangle.128k I was going to say...
reece says2015-10-15T02:05:15.0540750Z
Calling yourself pro-life is an equivalent to buying a hummer to show how tough you are. It's about overcompensation.
UtherPenguin says2015-10-15T02:07:50.9292758Z
@Reece The exact same could be said about pro choice. This is blatant hypocrisy.
reece says2015-10-15T02:10:38.2105980Z
@UtherPenguin I believe in determinism. Choice is merely an act of cause. There isn't any irony with me.
TBR says2015-10-15T02:12:03.2539136Z
Reece. I was going to say that to him, but realized it was a pm
Wylted says2015-10-15T12:11:04.7188391Z
Pro life means your against some forms of abortion, and pro choice means you're for all forms of abortion right?
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-10-15T20:31:47.8873880Z
"pro-life is what the right-wing use to make themselves feel better." As if 'Pro-Choice' wasnt also a carefully constructed but unrepresentative label itself.

@FreedomBeforeEquality I've been through this with UtherPenguin.
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-10-15T20:43:14.8182287Z
Misrepresentative* ... Not in this sites dictionary apparently. And sure ... You can have all the choice you want. You should (and will) be punished for bad choices is all. When these guys spout 'pro-choice' its coming with the rider that this sort of practice should not be frowned upon. The choice factor is neither here-nor-there. Its a matter of said choice being accepted as morally right based solely on the grounds that a person chose or should have the freedom to choose to do what they want. The same sort of argument you might hear from a criminal, a murderer, or thief. You cant justify the act just based on the fact that you think your choices should go without consequence.
