Should adults be required to take driver license exams in order to renew their license?

As someone who just failed a driver license test, I know that adults don't drive how you are taught to. I feel that many adults would fail a driver license test if they drove the way they actually do.

  • Could help reduce the rates of accidents. The only problem I can think of is that it may disproportionately affect the poor.

  • As time passes the bodies and abilities of humans change so this should be something helpful to insure the safety of others.

  • Having to redo a test would negate the point of being qualified. If this was the case then should you redo your school exams periodically? It makes no sense.

That description might be a little confusing, but the basic point is adults do not drive how you are taught to when taking a license exam.

And I don't talk the way I do during an interview. The question is: COULD they pass?

I think senior citizens should have to. There have been many times when I have almost been hit by a senior citizen driver.

Don't suggest things you will regret in time. Losing your license in old age is a truly horrible thing, it is the end of your freedom to get out and about much.

Older people often drive slower and more carefully, young people get annoyed and are far less experienced.
