  • One of the comments says they play for the love of the game, but they dont. If they did play for the love of the game, this wouldn't be an issue. Also, it's hard for them to make any money at all, since they work on there game 24/7 and not at an actual job. Finally, for many top athletes they play in college to go on to the pros.

  • they should be paid because then they can afford things they need to live like food and water and even stuff for collage because scholarships will only get them in collage. also sometime in collage sports some athletes do not even get education nor a schollarship

  • Athletes already put their lives at risk to play the sport they love...

  • BECAUSE these athletes could have proverty when they were little

  • Scholarships are like coupons. Last time I checked you can't go to the grocery store and buy food with a coupon. You still need another source of money. These players don't have time to work a job with long practice hours and school.

  • They already get paid; it's called sports scholarships. If you have them, you're saving tens of thousands of dollars in tuition fees. If you don't have them, than chances are you're not a very good athlete anyway.

  • Most get scholarships, and the reason I'd rather watch college sports than prof. Is because they play for the love of the game, not the money.

  • They wont focus on the actual sport they will start doing crazy and stupid stuff with the money and plus they aren't in the big league yet they just need to wait.

  • These college players need to learn to be financially smart instead of getting paid. They are naive and make silly mistakes sometimes.

  • Colleges are institutions of higher learning. There is a opportunity to athletes to get a college educations to prepare them for a career. athletics scholarships are a bonus for this education. The odds of becoming a professional athlete about 4 or 5 hundred thousand to one. These jocks need to realize that they need to focus on academics first then athletics.

  • The reason they should not be paid is because they need to learn to work for there earnings becuase if they got paid in college then they will know that they have no need to try becuase they will already have money before they even enter the professhional sports.

  • Do you think college athletes should be paid. Well I don’t, but that’s just my choice not yours. College athletes play these sport by choice, so if they get injured or anything that’s the athlete’s fault for putting their health at risk. Also college athletes get paid tons of money when they get there scholarships. When they get there scholarships they get paid 10 to thousands of dollars. The college athletes are not even professional players yet. Many of the college athletes think they should get paid. When the athletes do other stuff like for example give out autographs they get tips up to ten thousand dollars. NCAA want to find a way to stop them from getting tipped but they don’t know how to stop it.

@ItzWill Its kind of hard to manage your money when you don't have any money to manage.

@ DJCOLE According to the NCAA, the probability of college athletes going Pro, in every sport but baseball, are less than 2%. For baseball, it's 11%, but that is still not great. And they don't really have full control over that. They need to make games, practices, trainings, be on the road for extended periods of time and that takes up A LOT of their time.
