Should Congress vote down Section 215 of the Patriot Act June 1st?

Voting down Section 215 will take away the legal justification behind domestic metadata collection.

  • I don't really even think they need it anymore. All companies do it for them anyways. All they have to do is leave a provision in that allows them to request data from a carrier. I don't know how people can be so concerned over this, though, when they very willingly submit the same info to private institutions everyday. The government, who's intent is to use it for protection and law enforcement, is worse than the guy who wants your data to adjust prices you pay online in real time? The guys directly using you for money, for profit? They aren't the nefarious ones, no ...

"We no longer need it. Lets go back to being free!" I really hate the idea that we were able to throw it all away for a time and think we can just come right back when its convenient. Total BS. Our system is broken because of its ability to enact such acts and laws in the first place. If there is even a possibility of 'flipping back' then the initial act was obviously unconstitutional and heads should roll. One of the acts, the act itself or its reversal, is unconstitutional. They can't both be and get passed. One has to be inherently wrong.
