@hanspete I don't think it would matter which countries used them, as H+ bombs are much more powerful than nuclear weapons, they could damage a much greater radius and possibly affect the Earth itself in that area
Hanspete says2015-04-05T22:59:26.8450396-05:00
Well it can matter, some countries will set them off in place like New York or Beijing, others might not, and just use them as displays of power, like the Soviets and the U.S. did.
Itani says2015-04-05T23:01:42.8744236-05:00
True, but if those countries got out of hand or just have a bad leader (yes, I'm including the US) then they could turn just as bad as the others
Hanspete says2015-04-05T23:02:52.3554874-05:00
Well I don't deny that, but most bad countries don't have the system of checks and balances in place that a country like the U.S. does, so a bad President of the U.S. can't just go bombing someone cause he had a bad day.
Itani says2015-04-05T23:04:57.2844800-05:00
Luckily and thankfully, but the U.S. did test a nuclear bomb on an inhabited island, which the government tried to coverup, of course
Hanspete says2015-04-05T23:06:02.4563575-05:00
Well naturally the government doesn't want us to know things!
Itani says2015-04-05T23:07:52.6341127-05:00
Ha! I know that, but that was a big deal, doing something like that. I believe they have the right to hide things, for our safety, but tha was just wrong, no matter how you look at it
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-05T23:09:02.0215783-05:00
Itani, I think you have some misconceptions about nuclear weapons. I recommend this site. Http://www.Oism.Org/nwss/s73p912.Htm
Hanspete says2015-04-05T23:13:06.8840437-05:00
Wrong to hide it, no we should've flaunted it in the face of the Soviet Union
Itani says2015-04-05T23:14:37.6873726-05:00
@Mathgeekjoe It sent me to a "Server Error" and no gets a field because I was trying to show a before and after effect
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-05T23:16:42.6741782-05:00
Debate.Org capitalized the letters making the link fail. Try this
TBR says2015-04-05T23:16:42.9615139-05:00
What do you mean "allow"? Do you think we are the only people capable of creating these?
TBR says2015-04-05T23:17:29.8386124-05:00
Mathgeekjoe - link broken.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-05T23:18:13.8051155-05:00
Does the new one work?
Itani says2015-04-05T23:20:53.3834980-05:00
@Mathgeekjoe Now it does, thanks @TBR What do you mean "the only people" I'm including every country
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-05T23:23:09.8028745-05:00
Would it be fine to show a before and after of a field that got destroyed by an asteroid that could have been stopped by a Hydrogen bomb?
Itani says2015-04-05T23:24:34.5728815-05:00
Sounds really interesting, I'll definitely be reading this. It seems many, many people believe in these myths that've been passed around for a long time. I guess I never thought about it, since so many say the same myth, I wouldn't have known it was
Itani says2015-04-05T23:25:11.3401372-05:00
Lol yes
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-05T23:28:06.1987093-05:00
Has anybody heard the myth that daddy long legs are the most venomous spider, but their fangs are too small to pierce human skin.
Itani says2015-04-05T23:33:01.7314891-05:00
Yeah, a lot of people still believe that
komododragon8 says2015-04-05T23:33:10.8119220-05:00
Heard of it, however the facts are flipped, daddy long legs can bite people but their venom is non lethal
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-05T23:38:22.1645075-05:00
Well most cellar spiders can't bite people, of course there are exceptions for the big ones, but their venom is even weak on insects. The myth came about from people thinking that the only way one spider can eat another is if it has stronger venom. The cellar spider is known for eating very venomous spiders, so people assumed it had a stronger venom. Really the cellar spider is just faster and more nimble than most spiders. Cellar spiders also have a defense technic that they vibrate their bodies so quickly that they become invisible to poor eyed animals. Cellar spiders are awesome.
Itani says2015-04-06T09:08:43.4990103-05:00
Wow, that's really interesting. Did you know certain ant species can control their pheromone levels to disguise themselves as a different individual. I love insects, I think it's just because they're so different from us
Itani says2015-04-06T11:00:19.2022443-05:00
@Epic9988 What gives them the right to have these? Hydrogen weapons are much more powerful than the regular fission weapons
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-06T11:08:48.9811315-05:00
Itani, if you look at the site I gave about you about nuclear weapon myths, you will notice that it says that really strong nuclear weapons are a waste compared to smaller nuclear weapons.
Itani says2015-04-06T13:42:00.1596025-05:00
Many small nuclear weapons would cover a larger area, no question there. But a fusion bomb has only been tested once (which was by the Soviet Union in the Cold War) Apparently, there is no film or recording of it, but the written records say that one of the high ranking officials said "Not even our enemies deserve this" *roughly translated
TBR says2015-04-06T14:04:44.8070852-05:00
@Itani - I question the verbiage "allow". Are you saying that we (presumably the US or the west) get to arbitrarily determine who is "allowed" to create a thing?
Itani says2015-04-06T14:08:48.3307592-05:00
No, I'm including all countries in this
TBR says2015-04-06T14:11:56.9598061-05:00
@Itani - You keep missing the point. "Should countries be allowed to have Hydrogen weapons". Who is it that going to allow or disallow a country to create a thing.
Itani says2015-04-06T14:15:52.8331676-05:00
Oh, ok Sorry wasn't getting it, but I guess it would have to be the UN and the other countries not part of it would need to sign a treaty agreeing not to build them
Itani says2015-04-06T14:16:14.1684144-05:00
Like that would ever happen...
JacquesVancak says2015-04-08T20:30:20.5948091-05:00
How abused a technology, nuclear power, what could have been an extremely powerful and clean source of energy has instead been used to destroy entire cities in the blink of an eye.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-04-08T20:31:58.0819473-05:00
JacquesVancak, wait until we get anti matter, so much clean energy, and then bigger bombs.
