  • You shouldn't fine someone for the crimes of his father unless you are also willing to put him in jail for the crimes of his father... All you're doing is punishing them for what their fathers did. It's both de facto wrong and violates ex post facto. Why should I pay for something I never did to you and you never suffered through?

  • Just as we shouldn't have to pay inuit and native reparations. Actually, the inuit ones are ok.

  • I am not my ancestors. There is no reason I should bear their guilt.

  • The colonies should be paying Eroupe.

  • slippery slope

  • You pay reparations to those who actually suffered -- not dozens of generations later with no way to prove ancestry!

Some people are too quick to condemn inheritance unless it's the inheritance of a wrongdoing that involves that person getting 'I'm sorry' cash.

Some responcibilty should be taken, but I think imperialism is long overdue. Some tribes never got reperations for being massacred and their cultures destroyed, but as for the government recieving money...

I say no, but I hate when descendants of Europeans who did these things act like they still don't benefit from it. You may not have been there and actively participated in their actions but because these things took place, you still have privileged because of it.
