Should France and other European countries change their emergency vehicle sirens?

Posted by: GabeLipworth

The UK and many more countries have changed their sirens to the American ones, which are proven to be louder yet more effective. France and other European countries still use their old two tone sirens which are proven to be less effective but less loud. Should they change theirs to the American one?

  • Im reminded of a Family Guy episode were they compared the European sirens to two gay guys make love.

  • Yes because the american sirens are louder, and they sound cooler.

  • I love loud music in my car, they have to be louder than me.

I think you may have this off a bit. I do know that the UK is working to replace the sirens, but they are NOT adopting "our" sirens. We, again to the best of my knowledge, have the exact same problem they were having. The little I saw on this subject was about "poor directional" cues from the existing sirens. Got a link that says they are adopting ours?

Yes, the UK buys their sirens mostly from Whelen. Search up how the London Ambulance sounds like

Well, I am not sure that says they are using "our sound". Whelen will make the devices to whatever specks they are asked.
