@sniper1576 I personally have lived in Europe (where guns are not legal) and the US, and in Europe guess what, there is no chance of a shooting because even if the person wanted to shoot someone, they cant. Unlike in the US. Now people say they need guns to defend themselves from other people with guns. Well if no one has guns you don't need to defend yourself.
@sniper "that is the person's choice that they shoot" So, should we have a universal backround cheak to see if the person can handle a gun? As for the second point, what kind of guns are they taking? High powered machine guns? Or just normal handguns?
Incorrect. No matter what, someone is in danger of getting injured or killed by another human being. Our gun laws, actually, protect us from OTHER COUNTRIES. Think back to WW2. Why didn't the Japanese or Germans attack us on our motherland/US?
@Sniper fist of all, they did. Second of all, it was all MILITARY. Gangsters carrying handguns don't scare anyone away. Another reason is because the US wasn't the center of war, as in they weren't one of the main countries infiltrated, as Russia, UK and Germany were. And they are across the world from them.
The Japanese wanted to make a treaty with us to get our land. And, what I mean by "motherland/US" is our main land: Iowa, California, Nevada, Texas, etc... Our mainland is full of guns, so people would fend off the soldiers, no matter the cost. And, the attack on Pearl Harbor was unknown to us, because it was undercover and only known by the Japanese.
@tajshar it would definitely stop a lot though. I could see why it would be legal 200 years ago. But not with this modern warfare guns and many more people to worry about its not logical to allow them. There is no land to protect. Which is the main reason why they were allowed.
I somehow doubt that a well trained and organized and VERY committed army like Japan's in WW2 would be in anyway detoured by a bunch of Texans with hunting rifles which are used for shooting bears and blacks not fighting a war.
Sniper1576 is right, the Japanese didn't even plan a mass invasion in America because they said that "behind every blade of grass was an armed american" or something like that. Also, you really think that disarming law abiding citizens will help anyone, criminals aren't going to follow another law. It's for protection, so that, no matter how unlikely, if the U.S. military failed, the civilains can defend the country.
"Think back to WW2. Why didn't the Japanese or Germans attack us on our motherland/US?"
Yes, the greatest armies in the world were scared of a few Americans holding a pistol or shotgun, give me a break. The main reason for a lack of invasion on US soil was US air naval supremacy over Japan, plus Japan being preoccupied with the 2nd Sino Japanese war and British/Soviets bogging the Germans down in Europe (mostly the Soviets).
