Yes, if they choose to focus on themselves more academically then they should have the free will to do so.

I am a very school devoted person, and personally I believe gym should be an option rather than a requirement. This is because I feel students who can't take a certain AP or Honors class because they have to have physical education is stupid. I am currently upset about this situation because I want to take 2 math courses and AP computer science, but I either have to eliminate a math class or computer science because physical education is required. Ultimately other classes are going to better prepare students over PE. And, if people try to argue that students will become over-weight, PE wont change that- students are still going to eat crappy or not even try in PE.

We have a notoriously hardcore gym class and some of the students are still out of control.

Gym in schools isn't that much to be considered as something that really improves your health, therefore it should be something optional. In horse hours yet everybody should pick an extra course to do

In middle school PE teachers were more strict on rules and made us play by the rules, Making the game fun, But in high school we focus on the classes that we feel as more important. So PE should be mandatory for students in elementary and middle school. High school should be optional because it is more like a free class that no one cares about and doesn't try.

Physical exercise is very important for children and doing this regularly will help them try to continue in the future, after school. School should not be just about academics.

No unless it is recreational gym. Exercise of body and mind is good for you. I don't like working out, but I don't like studying either.

Kids today are too fat....if anything, they need to be in gym losing weight more than they need to be in math.

People need to get off of their butts and get some exercise. A healthy person needs exercise.

Gym is the only class where you get to stretch your legs and finally get out of a chair. If students choose to not do gym, then they're not gonna be healthy.
