There is no reason for insults other than to denigrate a conversation. And before you comment TBR, if the conversation has been already denigrated by certain individuals toward specific individuals, it is reasonable for these individuals to insult those who were insulting people in the first place.
How does insulting people ever help? Even if you completely disagree with someone or believe their statements are stupid/ idiotic, insulting them only hinders their ability to be more clear about what they said. Insults bring judgement without explanation from the person being insulted. The very act of insulting infringes on our 1st amendment rights and should not be tolerated.
Haroush you gigantic hypocrite you literally walked right into this poll and said: "Here goes Imab*tch again.. When I saw him for my first time I thought he was a d*ke instead of a dude.. Well, he acts like a d*ke, and looks like one anyway."
You are as hypocritical as you are a brain dead mule for the right
I dont deny that I can get under people's skin, boy, im just making you look full of shit on your own poll by pointing out that you childishly insult people on DDO more than anyone else, even though you claim not to ;)
@Haroush - Look. This is the height of hypocrisy. If you really want to do this, your posts are available to all. Look back, make your judgements. I simple don't care enough about you to insult outright.
@reece Calling someone a 'troll' for simply disagreeing with you is uncalled for. How would you like it if you were called a 'troll' for your political beliefs? This is exactly why I believe insults should be banned on this website, it is starting to become an issue.
"Insulting people is not freedom of speech" Dude, read the 1st amendment. Does it say insulting is not included? From the sound of it, its almost as if you advocate for hate speech laws, like Canada does.
Freedom of speech is the furthering of discussion, the act of insulting someone directly conflicts with freedom of speech because it prevents the freedom to speak by diminishing one's character with absolute judgement without explanation.
@Haroush - What I have seen from you since... Well the poll on the Confederate Flag. What I have seen in a clear trend of disagreeing, getting upset about perceived bullying because you aren't getting agreement until you finally lash out in insults. Now, you can lack the ability for self-examination, but others don't. We know when we are insulting, and imabench would make no preposterous clam that he isn't. Any time I say some nasty bit, I will stand proud and say it again. This little deflection attempt, not the first, is transparent to anyone who can read. Learn to work and debate, or just play like a child. The ball is in your court, but don't blame imabench, me, or anyone else for your inabilities, short temper, and childish behavior.
How about this.. @TBR When talking about self-examination, please learn to do this to yourself. If you did, you would know you are not addressing the issue at hand. Instead, you are singling me out with your perceptions of my characteristics without even discussing the topic in question. Once you figure this out, you will finally be able to discuss matters instead of avoiding topics and attempting to derail the discussion.
@Haroush - I have addressed this issue often on this forum. No, don't ban people for non-disruptive conversation. The line is there, but its not at a insult in the context of an argument. When they are complete ad hominem they do noting for the discussion, but others are not. Since you feel so picked on let me use you. Recently you told me to go masturbate in my basement ( your exact quote was... Well we can look it up). That added nothing to the conversation, and was childish. Back in the flag debate, I think I said something to the effect of "you are being a idiot ignoring black attitudes towards the flag". In the first example, it was completely off-topic, the second was personal, but still trying to get at the discussion. Now, do we want to discuss what hypocrisy is?
"Insulting someone is not growing up. That is called being immature." Well, your right on that, insulting is certainly undesirable and un-professional, but it their shouldn't be any legal barrier which is the point I'm trying to make. I'd be most happy if people like KKK and WBC are gone, but we can't hold double standards.
In that case one could argue that all insults are reactionary and use the same kind of excuse. You also misinterpreted what I said in your other comment towards me. By 'grow up', I meant that people should *deal* with insults more appropriately and perhaps not resort to criticizing others when they've insulted [as ALL humans do] themselves.
@Emilrose, Not every statement is a reactionary statement. There is always a point of origin. And I understood you just fine. People shouldn't have to put up with insults period. It's where the insults originate from that matters. It is the creator of the insult which needs to grow up. When I say grow up, I mean develop some humility and get informed about the topic at hand.
