I have no idea where you stand on other women's issues, but what makes people think they can defy womens rights over-and-over because they are pregnant!

@TBR So you think it should be legal for a woman to damage her baby by drinking? It's doing harm to the fetus and several people doing this will mess up the human gene pool.

You like the straw-man don't you.

Seriously, why should pregnant women be given the legal opportunity to mess up the human gene pool?
TBR says2015-03-30T14:38:13.1140402-05:00
Why should they give up their rights? You are talking about trampling rights to find some outliers.

Their "rights" to drink will cause issues with the baby. Your mom could have been an alcoholic and you could have been suffering from issues. I don't think you'd like that. Next mothers should be allowed to inject mercury into the fetus because of their "rights."

The right is to not be required to provide samples for tests. You really go strait for the straw-man.

Look. Woman are not incubators that you get to regulate. Any law must be as low impact on the rights of the individual as possible. The desire to "find" a minuscule population of pregnate woman who do not self-report that they are drinking during pregnancy is sick for a "free nation".

CDC says "0.2 to 1.5 infants with FAS for every 1,000". So... We have a range of .05% to .15% and want to stomp rights for the 99.95% - 99.85%. I see from your profile you report as a libertarian. How do you reconcile these?

"Women are not incubators that you get to regulate" Well said TBR! Im glad someone gets that. I noticed pregnant girls at my school how people stop treating them like people. Women shoukd be able to always bectreated as an independant person because they are.

I believe in rights and freedom only if it doesn't harm others which is the ideology of libertarianism. Having the right to drink while pregnant harms other, it harms the baby. It's unfair that a baby has to deal with problems from their mother's alcohol consumption. Do you even know how harmful alcohol can be for a fetus?
triangle.128k says2015-03-30T15:51:45.6578684-05:00
Pregnant woman should have a limit to alcohol consumption, a few drinks once in a while won't hurt. Drinking enough to feel drunk and drinking it often isn't a good thing.
Stefy says2015-03-30T15:52:56.9801540-05:00
No one said pregnant women should totally drink. The vast majority dont and definetely should not if they plan to have the baby. A more effective way to stop them is educational campaigns that treat them like people not constant invasive medical testing on a million different things that could possibly harm the baby. There was a case where a woman in the mid west was a cruly prosecuted fro having a miscarriage because she moght have unintentionaly done something to harm the baby. Education is better. You cant charge a woman with fetal health past a certain point because she isnt a doctor she just happens to have a baby inside her.

Look at my CDC numbers triangle.128k. Women know this, and regulating this is nothing but punitive and belittling. What do you expect for recourse if tests are found positive? ENOUGH! You don't get to control a woman's body, its that fu*king simple. 100% testing of women to "catch" .02-.15% is preposterous!
