  • why not?

  • Women are allowed to wear "masculine" clothes so why shouldn't the same be said for men. The idea that men can't wear "feminine" clothes stems from the idea of hyper masculinity and that somehow being less "masculine" makes you less of a "man."

  • I won't say it's normal, BUT it shouldn't be illegal. Obviously right now it's not socially exceptable. I'm not sure about the future. But as far as being allowed to do it. Go for it man, if that's your jam.

  • Wear all the feminine clothing you want because honestly who really cares.

  • People should have the freedom to dress as they please. If you are not naked or half naked I do not have a problem with what clothes a person wears in the sense of type of clothing.

  • There is absolutely no legitimate reason for men not to be able to wear feminine clothing.

  • People should be allowed to wear what they want when they want.

  • Polynesians do it with their lavalava, I don't see why not.

  • Why not?

  • I guess, but I personally would never wear female clothing

  • As long as it doesn't display their bodies in ways that other men would dislike.

  • Why not, honestly? People should wear whatever they want!

  • I don't have any problem with it.

  • We need to stop making rules for men and women about how they should behave and appear.Everybody is free to decide their role in society and dress however they like.

If no, should Scottish men be forbidden to wear kilts and should Indonesian men be forbidden to wear sarongs too? Or do they get some kind of exception because of "cultural reasons"?

The question indicates that men are not allowed, which is odd because they are in the country I live (usa). However, being allowed to do something and being free from non-legal consequences are entirely different. If you wear something goofy, I may laugh, idc if you are a man or woman.

What Heterodox is saying is that everyone has the right to point at him and laugh out loud for his choice of clothing. Then Heterodox shouldn't complain if 95% of everyone walking past him laughs at him and calls him ugly. Great, then we've cleared that out.

Our clothing is just a matter of social convention. Society counts on its youth to challenge social convention and expand our freedoms and tolerances. I am old enough to remember when it was considered improper for a woman to wear pants. Women who wore pants were "bad girls" because they were "a threat to femininity". I remember when Katherine Hepburn wore trousers to a Hollywood interview and everyone was shocked. So a man can wear a skirt. However, men will remain mindless slaves to the tyranny of trousers until many young men challenge social convention.
