  • Once upon a time, tyranny by majority happened. It would suck to be a minority.

  • Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner.

  • A direct democracy would be far lees productive and effective.

  • Direct democracy does not work because it only focuses on the majority, and does not focus on the minority, and especially does not focus on the ultimate minority: the individual.

  • Grassroots democracy would never work.

  • The US is a republic. Our founding Fathers knew democracies were unstable.

  • Absolutely not. That would just be mob rule, exactly the type thing the founding fathers wanted to prevent by setting up the system how it is.

  • I'd prefer as many individuals reconciling their interests as possible to a few individuals getting in the way of the many. Yes, the world is comprised of individuals- the thing is, there's more than one, which certain people don't realize.

Men are interesting. A representative democracy only works when its representatives are versed in politics. At current many men, not even of capability in leadership of any sort, can apply; there is really no difference between the two without that singular distinction. Better then the common man be actually responsible for his words than that of a buffoon in a chair who need not listen to his common man.

Whatever you wanna call it. Capitalism is the same thing without voting, in regards to property.

Interesting results, I thought direct democracy would get a good majority. I think that direct democracy is more suitable for small nations under 40 or so million people.

You will not find the word “democracy” in the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution or in any of the 50 State’s Constitutions.

I really don't give a rat's eye what the US constitution says (mostly because I am not American but also because I feel that morals change and laws/legislature/constitution should keep up with that).

Sorry about that, my mistake. Whether a republic or “representative democracy” the bottom line is, what form of governance best embraces and protects our Unalienable Rights. And in saying that, throughout recorded history, we do have one empirical social data point worth further investigation.
