Should Senators be elected by their respective States again?
Posted by: bfochtman14Whenever the 17th Amendment was passed the States completely lost their word in the federal government. To fix this I suggest the Senators be elected by their respective States and not directly by the people, many other countries practice this.

Will you clarify? I assume you mean by the state government, and not the coined "mob". I might bewrong though.
This is the second time you advocated for more representative democracy. We are treading a thin line of becoming a bureaucracy.
The only thing i found while researching pros and cons of 17th amendment was a fear of corruption that seats could be bought and sold. Are there more reasons for a pro of repealing the 17th amendment?
Well, the 17th amendment isn't totally relevant to the question. Hes asking if the state government should appoint senators, or if we should directly vote for them.
Why should the state government vote on them?
No, America needs more direct democracy. Not less. Electing our senators are something that gives the people more rights. Frankly, I'm sick of electing people who elect other officials.
No. Let the people elect their own Senators.
If politics was more reliable, and we lived in a world where moral men and women ran the government, then the possibility is fine with me. But that's a pipe dream in current times. Direct democracy runs the (rather large) risk of mob mentality, but it circumvents corrupt politicians controlling the election of other dirty politicians. In the absence of quality leaders, it is advisable to stay the course.
