Should Texas secede?Posted by: MrFreeThinker
(READ) If the government of Texas feels it is no longer their will or the people's will to remain in the Union, and exercises their constitutional right to secede , should they be allowed? Comments would be greatly appreciated.
Yes (comment why)
No (comment why)
They should if they're getting the short end of the stick.
Then they'll come running back towards us looking for help.
They'll get extra money.
We can tell Mexico that they can have some of their land back.
The US has supported other nations that came to be by becoming independent. If the majority of Texans (or any other state or group of states) don't want to be part of the US, forcing them to remain against their will makes the US no different than the countries the US condemned for the same.
There is no Constitutional right to secede. There's no point in having a Union if anyone can leave anytime.
Mississippi should secede instead.
There's no reason for any state to secede. They should be able to in order to avoid a civil war, but Texas is a great state and there is no reason for it to secede.
The main majority of Texans (over 90%) want to stay in the Union anyway
They are not allowed to, even if they tryed it would mean war, and lst me just say I think that they would lose.
This country is known for its 50 states, and should be with held as a state of the United States. Because many may disagree with a state does not give it a right to "isolate" it from the country.
It would be better for Texas and for the US if it remained united!
After the civil war, NO STATE has a right to secede from the union.
