  • Monarchy isn't rooted into Spain like it is England. Most of the populace are socialist-democrats by affiliation. With the retirement of King Phillip, who had 60% favorability, the support of Felipe is projected to only constitute a quarter of the population. There are many who are already trying to abdicate him, federalize the nation, and bring back the pre-Franco republic.

Monarchy is the last thing Spain needs. They have 25% of the nation unemployed, 500 closed royal grounds belonging to the family, and extreme social inequality. Believe it or not, you can easily equate Spanish Republicans as the liberal version of our Tea Party. They're popularity went up after the kings abdication.
