  • We aren't a socialist nation, we can provide for ourselves on our own level.

  • See how the Canadian health care is it sucks, because all their stuff is free.

  • Government Free Healthcare isn't free. It's like a sheep giving up it's wool just for it to get made into a sweater and given back.

  • Nothing is "free".

Not everything has to be a money-hungry business, especially something as crucial and important as basic healthcare.
heil35 says2015-04-12T16:44:05.9029822-05:00
Depends on the racial group only. Whether or not someone is rich or poor should have NO effect on health care provided
Stefy says2015-04-12T16:44:42.1974956-05:00
Reeseroni: YOU can provide for yourself on healthcare. Not everyone is so fortunate. And free checkups doesnt equal socialist thats a huge leap.
heil35 says2015-04-12T16:47:54.1830035-05:00
But segregating people based on their income level is unecessary segregation. That includes whether they can afford it or not. Free check ups therefore should have no basis on income level
Reeseroni says2015-04-12T16:54:48.0118451-05:00
Stefy, I acknowledge that not everyone is as fortunate, but many people also cannot afford a car. So if they have no means of transportation to a hospital or doctor's office (suggesting that they can't walk this far), why would this be beneficial? If they have a car, why can they not afford to pay for their health in the first place? (That is a vague statement but bear with me) This is just a step towards spoon feeding Americans to the point that they don't have to do anything to provide for themselves. Welfare, food stamps, free school until college (which is changing), free school lunches, and tons of other things. Is this not stepping towards socialism?
heil35 says2015-04-12T16:57:51.1961033-05:00
Reeseroni please don't segregate people based on who can provide for themselves and who can't. This creates unecessary divison and social class conflict. People should not be taxed differently based on different income or else you have segregated people on income
tajshar2k says2015-04-12T16:59:36.2755769-05:00
@Reeseroni A car is a luxury, not a right. So many people are poor, and the inequality gap will only increase. This will only lead to violence and chaos.
Reeseroni says2015-04-12T17:04:53.8105949-05:00
The inequality gap will increase because people rely on the government to take care of themselves, so instead of spending time studying and learning a trade, they will resent the wealthy, or more well-grounded people (money-wise), and rely on the government.
Stefy says2015-04-12T17:05:33.1477628-05:00
Reesoroni: Because cars often cost much less than medical care and they need a car to get places otger than the doctor like work. And im not saying pay for everthing or we need absolute economic equality. But people need basic medical care it us an absolute necessity. And no it isnt stepping towards socialism. We already do half that stuff and we arent close to being socialist and neither are the countries who do all of those things. Most people on welfare are working hard some even have multiple jobs but their wages are too low to support their families. Being able ti give theur toddler a check up will not demotivate them. The fact if the matter us people need food and medical care and others need to stop treating them like naughty children who arent working hard enough, have empathy, and stop being selfish.
Stefy says2015-04-12T17:10:59.2959662-05:00
Reesoroni: Dont tell me your one of those believers in trickle dien economics. That isnt true at all. Its because tge wealthy run the system, keep down the minimum wage, and the poor do not have access to education as much as the rich because they live often in bad areas and cannot afford college because college is so expansive now its practically reserved for the wealthy and a million itger factors that lead the poor to be kept down. You cant rise above your situation by working hard if your working three jobs just to buy food and clothes and pay your rent and bills. You cant pull yourself up by the bootstraps if you cant afford or access the boots.
briantheliberal says2015-04-12T17:16:14.0308892-05:00
Stefy, well said. What a lot of people don't seem to understand is that being poor doesn't just disappear with "hard work and education." A lot of poor people who are willing to do anything to improve their quality of life can't, because they can't even afford the basic resources it takes to get that far. The system already doesn't work in their favor. And to make matters worse, a lot of wealthy politicians are trying to take away financial aid from college students, which Republicans support, so poor people who want to further their education have to pay out of pocket, which most people cannot afford.
tajshar2k says2015-04-12T17:17:27.4992892-05:00
@Reeseroni Poor people don't have an education, because either their upbringing was very poor, or their schools simply sucked. This isn't Hunger Games where the fittest survive. I believe we should provide basic healthcare for everybody. Everybody should be able to get a check up for free.
Reeseroni says2015-04-12T17:19:38.7550892-05:00
We don't treat them like naughty children who do not work hard enough. If they have children, and know that they cannot support them, they should not blame us for not giving them the good jobs. If they want the good jobs, they should stay focused on their education; there are plenty of good jobs for those who have the skills necessary. I do not know how we are being selfish, keeping the money that we worked long and hard for. People who have more money than them most likely had to work very hard to get it. People do not just pay for college and then magically have tons of money, they have to work for it. By work for it- I do not mean have four jobs at different fast food restaurants, I mean have a day to day job that requires skill and focus that they work hard to maintain. The people who are poor do not deserve the rich people's money, and the rich people should not be forced to support them if they do not want to. It should not be the government's decision that makes a rich person pay for a person living on welfare's children to go to public school. The rich person should be allowed to use their hard earned money for themselves. They are the ones who truly deserve it. The poor people are the ones who should not have been lazy in the first place- not doing well in high school and getting into college. Even if they cannot afford college- if they want to be successful in life- they should have tried harder in high school. By providing free checkups, this will just make poor or homeless people realize that the government will keep on giving as long as they ask- which will lead to more people not feeling a sense of responsibility for themselves (this does not mean caring for their families- as this would be nice and helpful to them). I just believe that this will indirectly make more people even more reliant on the government to survive, and they will stop trying to have some sort of career and rely completely on the government to support them.
briantheliberal says2015-04-12T17:29:05.3626799-05:00
Reeseroni, "If they have children, and know that they cannot support them, they should not blame us for not giving them the good jobs." - But people like you, and believe what you do are also against abortion, affordable birth control and childcare. Yet, you wonder why the cycle of poverty continues? I find it hypocritical of someone to blame the poor for being poor, but you support systems that increase their likelihood to continue living in poverty. No one would have to "take money from the rich" if you stopped allowing the find to find every loophole possible to exploit the poor and middle class. Taking away affordable healthcare, childcare, education, government assistance and privatizing everything doesn't end poverty, it worsens it. This is one of the many contradictions of conservative Republican policies.
Reeseroni says2015-04-12T17:31:52.8368460-05:00
Briantheliberal, by taking these things away from them, you introduce them to a much greater personal responsibility.
briantheliberal says2015-04-12T17:36:26.3505992-05:00
Reeseroni, "by taking these things away from them, you introduce them to a much greater personal responsibility." - No, you introduce them to a world of hardship, financial and personal struggle, stress, and an increase in criminal activity. Not to mention, even MORE poverty.
tajshar2k says2015-04-12T17:39:53.9826062-05:00
@Reeseroni What about the people who were born into poverty?
briantheliberal says2015-04-12T17:41:12.2463011-05:00
Tajshar2k, exactly. Most people are born into poverty and studies have show that children who are born into poverty are more likely to stay in poverty as adults. Conservatives are just making that easier for them.
Reeseroni says2015-04-12T17:42:49.7600258-05:00
People should be able to take care of themselves. ALL people can. Wether they have money or not, they can take care of themselves. It is not the fault of others that they have no money- it is their own personal responsibility to earn money, and support themselves. Everyone can do this if they try. The problem is that right now, nobody is trying because of how much the government is willing to baby us. They are providing these things to people in order to stay in office and promote their agendas- because they know that if they give people things, they will get things in return. A hard working- strong willed and moral person does not end up in poverty. A lazy, not-caring, and immoral person will end up in poverty. People place themselves in poverty. Because of this, they should get themselves out of it. We can help them, but in this case- people want to do 99% of the work , and the person in poverty isn't even doing their 1%, because if they do- they won't receive the benefits of doing nothing- and they will be expected to do things on their own.
Reeseroni says2015-04-12T17:46:21.8379473-05:00
Also, no sh*t sherlock. People who are born into poverty most likely will stay in poverty. The conservatives are not trying to keep them in it- they want them to take initiative and get out of it. Liberals are giving them anything they want- which is not getting them out of poverty- it is just allowing them to continue doing nothing and getting support from the government. They recognize that they can gather votes from these people, so they try to become their allies. Being giving is not a liberal quality- it is mostly a stereotypically conservative trait. Saying that conservatives want them to stay in poverty is silly.
tajshar2k says2015-04-12T17:46:43.9739216-05:00
@Reeseroni So, you think a 5 year old should suffer just because his parents who being idiots? You can't expect a 5 year old to get a job.
tajshar2k says2015-04-12T17:49:42.0998794-05:00
@Resseroni Im not saying we have to pay for everything they need, but in my opinion healthcare is a right, just like how bearing arms is also our right.
Reeseroni says2015-04-12T17:52:29.4916769-05:00
@tajshar2k Of course I do not want a 5 y/o to suffer, and of course he/she cannot get a job. But what they can do? Strive to be a better parent than their own, and do their best in school- apply for financial aid in college, and get a college degree- and get a good job to support themselves and their possible family.
briantheliberal says2015-04-12T17:53:41.6166233-05:00
Reeseroni, "People should be able to take care of themselves. " - Yes they should, but they can't when you take away every possible resource from then to help them improve their quality of life. That's like having a building with only steps and no ramps and telling someone in a wheelchair to "figure it out". It's callous, it's uncaring, it's offensive, and people who think this way have absolutely no empathy. People who are at a disadvantage in society NEED assistance, otherwise they won't go anywhere. Very few people are actually able to slip through the cracks of such a flawed system. Calling all people who live in poverty "lazy, not-caring, and immoral" is exactly why so many people are against fiscally conservative policies. And those who live in poverty that identify as fiscally conservative are being brainwashed by those in power through religion and bigoted social ideologies, that's where the majority of the GOP comes from.
briantheliberal says2015-04-12T17:55:23.9808487-05:00
Reeseroni, but Conservatives Republicans are also trying to take away financial aid and turn universities into fully privatized institutions where people who apply must pay directly out of pocket.
Reeseroni says2015-04-12T17:56:35.3440790-05:00
Everyone should have healthcare, that is agreed. Not everyone does, and not everyone will. If healthcare was made free to everyone, it would just be added to taxes, and enlarge the nation's debt. This would in effect, not make healthcare free, but it would be forcing healthcare fees onto people who can afford to get their own healthcare.
tajshar2k says2015-04-12T17:58:18.7533602-05:00
@Reeseroni See, I'm not saying we make our entire system free, but just asking for basic checkups to be free, or very cheap at least.
briantheliberal says2015-04-12T18:03:07.4627379-05:00
Also stop being rude for no reason. I am not disrespecting you so do not disrespect me. "Liberals are giving them anything they want- which is not getting them out of poverty" - This is not true and you have no evidence supporting this either.
Stefy says2015-04-12T18:07:49.4215856-05:00
Reesoroni: I dont care if the wealthy have to pay an incredibly small amount extra in their taxes, and it would be very very small as this is for basic checkups, to make a basic himan right and need available to people. A small fee on everyine including the wealthy who vould afford it anyway is an incredibly small price to pay for making sure someones kids can get a checkup and they can get one to make sure theyre healthy to eother care for their families or contribute to society. To be honest, not wanting a toddlers heartbeat checked because it coats a nominal tax increase you can afford (keep in mind if you also get the free checkups so what your paying in taxes you are saving on physicals so it evens out) is pretty selfish in my opinion. Its all part of this subconcious fear of losin power that the upper class has.
Reeseroni says2015-04-12T18:11:31.4406664-05:00
I do not intend to offend or be rude, and if I have, I apologize. I know people who are on welfare and take everything they can get from the government, and I can say right now, that they are not trying to get out of it. They still intend on going to public high school, and having a stay at home mom, and a father who does not work very much. This is a prime example of being supported by the government. The government is not trying to get them out of poverty, they are just giving them things in order to gain their respect. If I respect someone, I am likely to vote them into office. Also, not all people in poverty are "lazy, not-caring, and immoral", but the ones who could be better grounded monetary-wise, yet choose to be funded by the government are.
Reeseroni says2015-04-12T18:16:53.2739267-05:00
Stefy, You may not care that the wealthy people have to pay more, but they may. The way the liberal authorities in the countries wish to control the taxes, chances are that the rich will pay much much more than the middle class. This means that it will even out (maybe) for the middle class- but the rich will have to pay more, and the lower classes will not have to pay at all (which they may already not pay for). Also, the upper class is not in fear of losing power right now. They have a HUGE influence on the government, which they can rely on as a source of power. The government is not going to stop valuing money so much.
Eli24 says2015-04-12T18:21:06.2542616-05:00
Just because some people are abusing something, doesn't mean everybody who is poor will do the same thing. Thats like saying we should arrest all black people just because one black guy got arrested.
Stefy says2015-04-12T18:23:17.1513443-05:00
Yeah. The rich might have to pay more because they can afford to do so. Not a ton more, but a little more than the lower and middle class. And the poor are never going to gave to pay nothing thats called a slippery slope logical fallacy. And they "choose" public high school because they cant afford expensive private schools. They may have younger kids and need a stay at home parent. And welfare tecipients generally do work. They only take the moneybecause they need it to not be hungry or homeless. Honestly you need yo break out of this priviledged bubble you are in i seriously dont want to offend you but its kind of astounding. I really really mean it. You have no inkling of what people in poverty go through. Also im defending you on that rude thing. You arent being rude at all.
