  • We should go be to the original pledge before 1954 when the freedom hating republicans put "under god" in the pledge in order to belittle freedom & create a theodemocracy.

  • Absolutely. It was added less than a century ago and does not belong. We should be true to the history of the pledge and say it the way it was intended.

  • This again...

  • I am religious and even I think it should be removed.

  • Separation of church and state, people!

  • One nation, under Alla, Invisible, and hypocrisy for all

  • Even though it really isn't doing any harm where it is, it should be removed to show that we are a country where religion is completely separate from the state. Even though those two words are not the entire problem, their removal would be a beginning to the solution.

  • It should be removed. It was only added as a stunt during the Cold War. Let's just completely do away with the pledge.

  • "If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under." -Ronald Reagan

  • thats crazy.

  • "The greatest happiness of the greatest number is the foundation of morals and legislation." -Jeremy Bentham "If God does not exsist, it would be necessary to invent Him." "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." -Voltaire

  • I believe we should leave religious references as they are right now.

  • How on Earth does saying " under God" make America a fundamentalism?! How on Earth is it infringing on your freedoms?! Even if you are an atheist, for traditions sake why not keep it? To every one whom voted yes, do you really think that this really offends anyone? Are agnostics around the nation sobbing in tears every time they have to say the pledge of allegiance?!

  • "Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord" Psalm 33:12 Our nation was built on God. The pilgrims came here to worship God freely. Separation of church and state means that the government can't control what is said in church. That is what it really means, not that religion can't be in the government but that the government can't control the church. That is what the church of England was doing, controlling the church and what was said. As I said that is why the pilgrims came here in the first place!

I dont care. We are the majority and we can do what we want. If people dont like it, then you dont have to live here. You can live canada if you want

Redspectre, I thought America was a free nation and not a Christian one. The founding fathers, especially Thomas Jefferson, truly believed in separation of church and state. Many people move to America because they fear religious persecution, even today that happens. If a non-Christian came to the U.S. to be free and then is told that is not a free nation but a Christian one, then what was the point of moving here? Look at things from other perspectives, Christians do not deserve special treatment either.

Ya red, that's the argument the south made to support slavery "We are the majority and we can do what we want. If people dont like it, then you dont have to live here." im going to place him as a privileged southern white male.

I pledge allegiance, to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, ... Indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Let's not criticize each other for their opinion on the Pledge, that wouldn't be very just and people need liberty here.
Redspectre says2014-07-22T13:28:13.9941352-05:00
Its not bigoted. Imagine if we allowed the KKK to rule over us because they are a small minority. And i am not a facist. Fascist support gun control which is more like democrats than me.

Fascists also oppose homosexuality just like the republicans

It is bigoted, bigoted means to place ones views over others, you stated "We are the majority and we can do what we want. If people dont like it, then you dont have to live here" that's bigoted
JasperFrancisShickadance says2014-07-22T13:30:07.7435415-05:00

Redspectre says2014-07-22T13:31:14.9028330-05:00
Why do we need to get rid of it? What harm is it doing?

“A minority is powerless while it conforms to the majority; it is not even a minority then; but it is irresistible when it clogs by its whole weight.” Henry David Thoreau and it forces those who don't believe in a deity to praise/ recognize one.

Redspectre says2014-07-22T17:11:06.0935740-05:00
First of all, my comment about environmental protection is my f***ing business. Second of all, taking god out of america will cause god to send storms and plagues upon the glorious land of america and will allow the demons to overrun the country and rape and pillage the heartland while the coasts fall into the sea.

Definitely, when I pledge my allegiance to my country I will not be pledging it to some god too.
Preston says2014-07-23T07:10:31.0947143-05:00
Red, do you really think that the pledge somehow satisfies gods wrath and keeps him from releasing demons on us? That is the most ridiculous notion ever.
