Should the police officer who shot Walter Scot be put on trial for murder?

Posted by: Squirrelnuts57

On a routine traffic stop, police officer Michael Slager shot Walter Scot in the back as he ran. The officer reports that he mentioned the warrant for overdue child support payments, then Scot "grabbed my taser" and began running, causing Officer Slager to fire. He is now facing charges of murder and faces the death penalty.

  • It looked like the officer tazed Walter and that made him run, then the officer shot him till Walter fell.

  • He was shot 5 times in the back, and the the cop planted the taser on him.

  • He shot an unarmed man, from an unreasonable distance. Then planted a taser on him to cover it up.

  • Well have to look at more evidence to be sure but as of right now it looks like this man was murdered in cold blood.

  • Let me be clear. I am the son of a police officer and I have the utmost respect for law enforcement . I do not think that the officer was justified in the shooting of the vic simply because he (the vic) was (to the officers knowledge) unarmed and the officer could have chased the man down and arrested him instead of executing him in the street.

I will not pass judgment until I have all of the facts.

Do you have an article of the events that took place?

There is a video floating around. The police officer approached the man, I believe it was because he failed to make child support payments. He ran away, the officer shot him down for no reason. Afterward, he planted a taser on him to cover up the fact that he just unjustifiably murdered someone.
Dilara says2015-04-08T10:44:32.4728905-05:00
If Walter grabbed his taser than maybe the cop shouldn't be charged. If otherwise he should be. I've seen the video and this poor man was shot whole running away
briantheliberal says2015-04-08T10:48:08.3161884-05:00
He didn't grab his taser Dilara, the video evidence show exact what happened. But leave it to you to try to deny and justify it somehow.
Dilara says2015-04-08T10:52:56.8804318-05:00
I saw the video and I'm saying that if someone grabbed a taser and ran than a cop would be able to shoot them. And your the one denying facts about ferguson. You haven't gotten back to me on that other comment conversation we were having. I wonder why
briantheliberal says2015-04-08T10:58:27.0743224-05:00
I didn't deny facts about ANYTHING. I don't even assume to know everything about Ferguson. You are the one here obsessed with defending unjustified murders. I didn't respond to you because no matter what anyone says you start spouting your distorted, clearly biased rhetoric for NO reason. Get over yourself and find some help because based on your last poll you clearly need it.
tcutshaw2 says2015-04-08T12:39:24.8382083-05:00
He should be put on trial, but we'll need to look at the evidence before we determine him to be guilty. He is innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around. We shouldn't make assumptions like we did with the officer in Ferguson. We need to look at the evidence.
Dilara says2015-04-08T14:14:12.4991855-05:00
Brian. I named a bunch of facts and stats proving you wrong and you simply didn't reply. Darren Wilson is innocent. Read the DOJ report. That killing was justified. Darren Wilson's life is ruined because idiots like you have made him out to be a cold blooded murderer over an act he did out of self defense. I'm planning on giving Darren some money so he can get his life back together. Tell me this. How can someone have their hands up palms out and be shot in the top of the arm? How? Your defying basic science. Brown was shot in the top of the arm. If he had his hands up he would have been shot in the bottom of the arm. All Wilson did was protect him self from a violent criminal.

My poll "have the black lives matter protestors worsened or strengthened race relations" has a conversation between me and Brian. Notice how my last comment was ignored. In that comment I have facts disproving Brian's claims and he hasn't replied...I wonder why.
tcutshaw2 says2015-04-08T14:46:42.8957151-05:00
Brian, how do you even know it was unjustified? A video barely accounts for anything. Don't make assumptions. He is not guilty until proven innocent, he is innocent until proven guilty. You need facts in order to make a just decision.
tcutshaw2 says2015-04-08T14:50:36.2128328-05:00
Why is it that everyone loses their sh** when a white man kills a black man, but not the other way around? Isn't that incredibly racist against white people?
briantheliberal says2015-04-08T15:23:49.1251494-05:00
Dilara, YOU'RE DOING IT AGAIN. I didn't say anything about Darren Wilson being guilty. I didn't say anything about Mike Brown's death or anything about that case in general. You keep bringing up information that has nothing to do with the discussion at hand to prove a point that was irrelevant to begin with. THAT is why I refuse to engage in discussion with you, because you're irrational. You need help, something is clearly wrong with a person who has all of this deeply ingrained in their head to the point where it's literally ALL YOU TALK ABOUT. Nobody can discuss systematic racism or police brutality or senseless murdering of innocent civilians without you going off on a tangent about sh-t that doesn't matter, and criticizing people over a movement you know NOTHING about.
briantheliberal says2015-04-08T15:25:03.2042822-05:00
Tcutshaw2, "how do you even know it was unjustified?" - Clearly you didn't actually watch the video, read the statements, legal documents or police reports. If you did, you wouldn't be asking me this question.
Squirrelnuts57 says2015-04-08T17:07:35.1019742-05:00
@tcutshaw2 this cop, unlike the Michael Brown officer, is completely guilty, and I am white so there is no room for bias.
tcutshaw2 says2015-04-09T08:25:44.7359721-05:00
Brian, I will remain skeptical until a proper investigation is done. It is important not to jump to conclusions.
Dilara says2015-04-09T12:52:30.7769577-05:00
You admit Darren Wilson is innocent?
Squirrelnuts57 says2015-04-10T09:14:44.8130249-05:00
Michael Brown charged at Officer Wilson. He shot him in defense.
Dilara says2015-04-10T10:33:29.6247166-05:00
Exactly squirrel nuts. He also assaulted Wilson and tried to take his gun
