What are they going to do with those prisoners then? I think until we find a solution to that, we should keep it open.

Yeah, just let them rot and die if they don't want to learn how to be civil. Personally, I think they cost too much money to let them rot away as they please. We really should start executing them and if they decide to become more civil because of this, give them a chance with a little freedom, a little more, & so on. It has to be done slowly, if not you risk running into more problems. If they fail the test,.. Dead.

It is illegal in accordance with our own laws, and international law. You cannot detain someone indefinitely without due process.

@Tricord Look up Section 1031 of the National Defense Authorization Act. What they are doing is frighteningly legal.

@58539672 frighteningly is probably not enough. There is no word in the english language that can express how frightening it is.

@tajshar2k well we can bring them to the US, and put them in a prison here, plus we can release the ones that have been cleared for release already (but are still locked up for some reason). Others can be extradited to their home nations and tried there.

We also need to remember that there are only 91 prisoners that remain and of those 91, 34 have been cleared for transfer. The rest are on trial, or set for continued detention, which could be done here in the US.

Guantanamo prison should close. It the next best move we have to secure the American hostage, Robert Levinson who disappeared on the Iranian island of Kish 9 years ago. There are enough prisons on mainland U.S.A. to hold the gitmo prisoners and bring them to trial.
