Should the U.S Lower Immigration Rates?

Posted by: USN276

As of now, an average of 1 million new immigrants enter the country from either Asia or Third World Countries. Should we enact much stricter immigration laws to greatly lower immigration rates?

  • Yes, we should LOWER immigration rates

  • No, we should NOT lower immigration rates

  • In light of whats going on right now ... pulling back just a little couldnt hurt. It would at least show we are making an attempt to be more cautious. Letting them test the defenses and us sitting back not showing any response is pretty inviting to them I would think.

  • Considering how much public assistance goes to many immigrants, I can't help but wish that our country would use those funds to help the homeless and the elderly who are actual citizens of the U.S. It seems that we could do more to help others if we could work on our own issues first.

  • Because we don't want to have more people and lose money/space

  • America's immigration system should be set up to benefit it's citizens. If you can't help this country you shouldn't be allowed to stay. Sorry, diversity is not what makes this country great. Unity is. We are already a very divided society. Give us time to homogenize. Race and ethnicity doesn't matter, but culture and language does. Not sure how bringing millions of people from the third world helps the country.

Depends. Are you talking about legal or illegal immigration?
USN276 says2015-11-23T21:23:03.2193916Z
@Oreo the title is pretty obviously referring to Legal immigration.
PetersSmith says2015-11-23T21:38:25.9927369Z
Wow, you actually made something not related to gun control.
Wylted says2015-11-23T21:59:52.6736044Z
Increase legal immigration, decrease illegal immigration. It really sucks to see people who are highly educated and will benefit the country, struggling to get in, while people who harm the country get in so easily.
USN276 says2015-11-23T22:05:38.6310449Z
@ wilted so what you're saying si that you actually want more immigrants (on top of the 1 million legal immigrants) from third countries coming into the U.S? By 2050, our population is expected to rise to 400 million. That's 80 million in 35 years! Are you crazy?
Wylted says2015-11-23T22:40:26.0552057Z
Only the ones who actually make the country better. There are some very useful people from third world countries, but I doubt that 3rd world people, would even be the majority of "legal" immigrants, and with a simultaneous decreasing of illegal immigration, we could stop the population from exploding that much, if doing so is determined to be harmful
USN276 says2015-11-23T23:04:07.4779054Z
@wylted these immigrants are destined to vote Democrat. Allowing more and more of them will create a one Party rule or the eventual break up of American regions (which I hope would happen). We have no unity allowing a million new immigrants per year from third world countries. It's only dividing us more and more, and it will lead to the downfall.
Wylted says2015-11-23T23:06:06.1025866Z
We'd be allowing less total immigrants, with what I proposed.
USN276 says2015-11-23T23:25:30.8521852Z
@Wylted you said increase legal immigration before. Thats not what you said
Wylted says2015-11-23T23:36:54.9721411Z
Increase legal, decrease illegal. The illegal decrease more than makes up for the legal increase.
tajshar2k says2015-11-23T23:39:12.2391808Z
Yes, because America is the land of opportunity. It should be open to anybody who is skilled.
USN276 says2015-11-24T01:31:34.9701789Z
^ does the word "overpopulation" to you mean nothing?
tajshar2k says2015-11-24T01:57:18.2605243Z
Sure it does. America still has plenty of room.
USN276 says2015-11-24T02:06:35.9868496Z
So let's think for a moment. 80 million every 35 years. That means in 100 years, with continued immigration rates, 240 million people would have immigrated here. In 200 years that means 400 million. When is it going to end? Why do you want more immigrants from Third World Countries? Why do you want a Democrat One Party rule so badly?
USN276 says2015-11-24T02:07:32.4051491Z
^ I know, we have all the room possible for potential Democratic voters to secure a one party rule.
tajshar2k says2015-11-24T02:14:57.0418539Z
Oh my god dude, you know people fricking die right? It's not just going to increase. And why the hate on 3 world immigrants? Some are incredibly smart, who could help our nations, compared to some of the useless natives in our country. Maybe if the GOP was actually immigrant friendly, people would vote for them. Why would they vote GOP when the GOP want to keep them out?
USN276 says2015-11-24T02:16:34.1230977Z
^ useless Natives? Who are the useless natives in the country? Are you referring to the already existing black/hispanic communities who's IQs are several deviations below white/asian levels?
USN276 says2015-11-24T02:17:12.7558781Z
And are statistically more probable to be on welfare benefits?
triangle.128k says2015-11-24T02:17:34.2098656Z
IQ isn't as accurate as you think it is.
Wylted says2015-11-24T02:17:40.2793937Z
Would you also oppose operation paper clip?
Wylted says2015-11-24T02:18:14.6150845Z
Would you also oppose operation paper clip?
tajshar2k says2015-11-24T02:18:37.8540947Z
Some of them, and also useless and worthless states in the South that use up the tax dollars for welfare. In other words, rednecks who need food stamps to get access to food.
mc9 says2015-11-24T02:18:42.3009212Z
USN you are aware that a big reason that their iq on average is generally lower is probably because they don't have access to as high quality education as those communities are poorer.
USN276 says2015-11-24T02:19:08.7478367Z
"iq isn't as accurate as you think" Ok, let's just look at the societies these people are coming from. For example, Mexico, where the IQ is around 86. How is Mexico doing compared to your average western nation?
tajshar2k says2015-11-24T02:20:09.9043533Z
Except for Texas, almost every state in the South is a disgrace to this country.
USN276 says2015-11-24T02:20:24.7721063Z
"USN you are aware that a big reason that their iq on average is generally lower is probably because they don't have access to as high quality education as those communities are poorer." Europeans and Asians gave themselves the access to that stop using that as an argument. If they were sophisticated people, they would have been able to develop that all.
mc9 says2015-11-24T02:24:18.0552736Z
The systematic racism of old (you could argue that it's still around) has stopped them from being able to have access to high quality education as it didn't allow them to gain money causing minorities to be unemployed/employed with low pay and that just stuck around through the generations. There is also no scientific evidence that shows anything is different about different ethnicities except for the natural adaptations (blacks getting dark skin since Africa is really hot, etc.) also everybody is actually really pale when they are born and the pigment comes later.
Wylted says2015-11-24T02:29:50.2636621Z
Education doesn't cause IQ to increase or decrease.
mc9 says2015-11-24T02:32:30.9082245Z
@Wylted fair enough but my point is people aren't naturally smarter or dumber based on their ethnicity.
triangle.128k says2015-11-24T02:45:51.7725523Z
@USN But the lower average IQ of hispanics and blacks aren't purely due to their race. There's other factors you have to take into consideration, are you racist?
tajshar2k says2015-11-24T02:52:03.2156953Z
He said he supported abortion, because it's usually black women who get it.
Wylted says2015-11-24T15:41:25.8170845Z
I had about ten different doctors take care of my fiancé during her labor and C-section. Almost all of them were immigrants from India. I'm not sure how stopping a bunch of doctors from coming into the country is a good thing.
triangle.128k says2015-11-24T20:35:10.6198654Z
@Wylted Exactly, it's mainly the illegals that are causing trouble.
