  • Yes, but POLICE and Military Police should be allowed all types of weapons along with body cameras. I also believe in legalizing with informed knowledge and consent state-sponsored terrorism in one state in the west coast and two or three in the southwest area.

  • Don't ban guns in general, pistols or hunting rifles should be allowed, but there is no getting around the simple fact that there are no civilian uses for an assault weapon. Full or semi auto, it doesn't matter. Get rid of all of them.

  • ... what is the point of them? Like seriously? "I need to protect my family with this AK47"... that is a bit of an over kill

  • Yes! Ban any gun that could be used for an assault on a person.

  • No ban, but a progressively more stringent system of controls.

  • Never enough dakka.

  • I assume you mean assault rifles, in any case just restrict them to semi auto and put certain reguations on them.

  • Then only crooks will have them!

  • Just because "assault weapons" can kill someone does not mean that they should be banned. People can die from choking on food but does that mean that food should be banned?

  • if police are the only ones with assault weapons than in war when there busy were vulnerable to attack from enemy country. we need to be ready. America was founded on the citizens having the ability to fight and having weapons. so what are we going to do when were attacked by countries with assault weapons

You have an unhealthy obsession with "assault weapons". And it's even odder how you always put "assault weapons" in quotes because they just "look scarier" right?
TBR says2015-08-17T16:37:48.8137876Z
I think he quotes "assault weapons" because he does not like the term.
tajshar2k says2015-08-18T03:15:43.0598339Z
TBR I'm glad you are becoming a little right on the issue.
TBR says2015-08-18T03:19:29.0201345Z
I am no different than I have ever been, and its not "right"
tajshar2k says2015-08-18T03:21:12.7226740Z
I meant on the political spectrum...
tajshar2k says2015-08-18T03:21:34.5565132Z
No you said you supported banning assault weapons, and repelling the 2nd amendment before.
Varrack says2015-08-18T03:25:08.1819086Z
The gun debate has become increasingly one-sided...There aren't hardly as many calling for bans as there used to be. Hopefully it'll be an issue that does off and everyone can have their gun rights.
TBR says2015-08-18T03:31:28.8555488Z
@tajshar2k - NO! You took that with Ha(whatever his name is) off track. I gave you a model in a post 2nd amendment world, and stick to it. 1) Same thing I am saying in this thread, no outright bans, progressively more control 2) If someone pushed a attempt to amend the constitution, I would back it. 3) It is unrealistic, and I know it. BIG POINT. Even with it out of the constitution, NO BAN! Additional restrictions.

Not to make a huge issue out of this, but find me anywhere I have said I support an assault weapon ban, and I will eat a bug.

Its gonna take a while though.

Find it, then get Varrack. Find it, and I will eat said bug on Google hangout.

Looks like no bug eating for me!

@tajshar2k - I would like to make a couple points clear on my stance. I think assault "styled" rifles are ludicrous. I think the people who want them, clowns. I would like a good chunk of ALL guns out of our society. They are a plague - self induced sickness. But, since I have to live with the sickness, so be it. The answer is to change the will - the desire for this self-destructive obsession.
tajshar2k says2015-08-18T14:17:35.8012075Z
Basils, this is your logic. I don't want them, therefore I want to ban all of them, even though people use them for hunting and other purposes.
TBR says2015-08-18T14:21:56.9893719Z
@tajshar2k - You keep saying "ban" and I have never said ban anything. I want to cure the sickness of the desire for these things.
TBR says2015-08-18T14:22:37.7836334Z
@tajshar2k - Sorry, though that was a reply to me.
tajshar2k says2015-08-18T14:23:15.5826757Z
Its not a sickness though. People just like having possession of them because they are cool. I'm guessing you never shot a gun before?
TBR says2015-08-18T14:24:49.3860770Z
@tajshar2k - I have shot a gun. The term "cool" attached to this is not making a solid case. Smoking was very cool at one point.
USN276 says2015-08-18T14:39:59.0123079Z
TBR, I don't understand what a progressively more stringent system means? Does that mean increased background checks or something?
TBR says2015-08-18T17:26:31.7629887Z
@USN276 - My more verbose reply got trashed by shockwave. Simple as I can make the response, yes. There are logical groupings of ammo and weapons, and each step along the way can be more restrictive.
TBR says2015-08-18T17:27:37.6986926Z
Stringent is a better word, but restrictive is fair too.
tajshar2k says2015-08-18T17:28:35.5610709Z
Smoking harms you. Unless you shoot your self, guns do not harm you. There's a difference.
tajshar2k says2015-08-18T17:30:25.2836137Z
@USN276 Have you ever shot a AAC Honey Badger PDW
tajshar2k says2015-08-18T17:31:02.4950641Z
TBR, can you describe your experience of you shooting a gun?
TBR says2015-08-18T17:31:11.4215390Z
@tajshar2k - Is it your contention that weapons do not cause harm?
TBR says2015-08-18T17:34:17.3903311Z
@tajshar2k - I guess so. I shot a shotgun when I was.... I guess 12 or 13? Have shot skeet a number of times since. I fired a rifle with a Master Sergeant. He had handguns with him, but I passed on handguns. So... Total? I don't know. Less than a dozen.
USN276 says2015-08-18T18:22:44.7041799Z
@TBR so in regards to semi automatic AR 15s, should those be made more restrictive than this rifle here which is also semi automatic?
USN276 says2015-08-18T18:25:25.0767674Z
@taj no I have not. That rifle isn't a very common weapon. There are many AR 15 rifles VERY similar to that, but I haven't shot anything like it. I only have my AR 15 (m4A1) style rifle. That's the only AR 15 I've shot unfortunately. Other that, I shoot Mosin Nagants, Mausers, and a Saiga. Those are the rifles I own including my AR 15
TBR says2015-08-18T18:25:55.6481916Z
USN276 says2015-08-18T20:53:23.6037089Z
Ok, then there doesn't seem to be anything we disagree on. Neither of us want blanket bans, and we both want better background checks that prevent criminals and the mentally insane of owning guns
tajshar2k says2015-08-19T01:10:55.6532351Z
TBR, Nope my contention is the purpose of weapons is not to harm yourself, but to harm others. Me shooting a gun at a brick wall doesn't not harm my body, me smoking does harm my body
tajshar2k says2015-08-19T01:11:14.1237535Z
Btw thats a slippery slope argument.
tajshar2k says2015-08-19T01:12:17.0701570Z
USN276, hopefully you get the opportunity too. I shot one today, and it was very light and the recoil wasn't too bad. I like how the suppressor is integrated.
TBR says2015-08-19T13:10:22.3085254Z
@tajshar2k - Shooting a brick wall can harm you. A car's purpose is not kill, but you can die driving it. || What slippery slope are you concerned with?
johnreekers says2017-04-21T14:04:14.4452858Z
According to the constitution we can have whatever weaponry that technology allows but we don't even have that but we defiantly don't need to ban assault weapons.
