Should we overturn Citizens United?
Posted by: IndependentTruthCitizens United vs. FED ruled that the first amendment prohibited the government from restricting independent political expenditures by a nonprofit corporation. This ruling has come under harsh criticism from those who claim that this decision allows the wealthiest to buy the political process. Do you think we should overturn it?

I think we should redefine corporate personhood. Not necessarily overturn the ruling, but work out what exactly a corporation IS. I think most of us agree they should be able to be sued in place of their management, but no one thinks they have a literal right to health care or absurd things like that.
Even though there are parts of this law which should be reformed, I don't believe the entire law needs to be reformed. If this happened, there would be a domino effect of new laws and regulations which would fundamentally change our system for the worse and not the better.
We should overturn it, and replace it with a law that allows unlimited contribution from individuals, but gets rid of PACs and SuperPACs.
Super Pacs are funded by people as well as corporations. Look, you as an individual can sue a corporation. But you cannot sue something unless it has rights. Thus a corporation must have some rights. its constitutionally unsound to restrict basic rights.
The McCain-Feingold Act violated the Free Speech Clause of the First Amendment.
