  • Im in favor of regulated capitalism but i voted for this because people on this site are under the impression that if youre not in favor of laissez faire then youre not a capitalist and im just done.

  • Metaphor Man says: "capitalism is like a child flying a kite, higher and higher it soars. The child oblivious to the impending storm that will snap the string".

  • i refuse to support capitalism as it is simply a system of which all wealth and power are in the hands of a tiny group of people. Capitalism is the source of the problems the world is dealing with.

  • Free enterprise for the win.

  • Socialism gets rid of competition and self-reliance and it usually fails.

  • Socialists claim they care more about the poor, but it's just not true. Capitalism and religious charity have done more for the poor than all of the redistribution. In India and China, Capitalism is bringing hundreds of millions of people out of poverty.

  • It's more vulnerable to corruption...(not saying capitalist aren't corrupt)

Capitalism only says something about how you organize your economy, the opposite would be communism. Going full either way is stupid. Just like no capitalist would say that politics should be a purely financial question, decide based on how much money each side is willing to invest in the issue. The best way by far is to take good elements from each principle, that of course, is the discussion of politics. You seem to want a shortcut: do everything according to one principle, it won't work.

Reformed Capitalism, not the version India or the U.S. have. Socialism doesn't work because it allows for corruption, it praises corruption almost.

Capitalism allows for a heck of a lot of corruption, too. There are many examples, but just take a look at Chicago.

The poll needs to be more specific as their are varying definitions of capitalism and socialism.

Capitalism is not the opposite of communism. Laissez faire capitalism is.
