Those ideas, however, were fundamentally wrong. They rested upon the assumption of the equality of races. This was an error. It was a sandy foundation, and the government built upon it fell when the “storm came and the wind blew.” Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner- stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth." -Vice president of the Confederacy Enough said.
I do believe they would win, just a hunch though
the union but i still support the confederate flag!!!!
Confederacy was stupid. To us today, at least.
The confederacy was fighting for states rights, and today it seems like the federal government will not relinquish any of their power to the people. Am I for slavery? OF COURSE NOT! The Confederacy would have died out anyways. Great Britain, Spain, and France had all abolished slavery prior to the civil war. The Confederate States of America would have died out shortly after it's emergence has an independent nation due to it's lack of technological advancement, extremely poor economy, and the home to some of the most impoverished people in the Union prior to the civil war. The economic effects would be disastrous, as no country would have traded with the South. Efforts to free Slaves would have continued, as the majority population of the south didn't even own slaves. The majority were yeomen farmers, equivalent to the present-day hillbilly. I stand with State's rights, and the United States would still be united today even if the Confederacy had lost.
Like Colin said, the States in the South were very poor. Which is WHY they rebelled. And yes, Slavery would have died out had the Confederacy withstood the North's technology. I'm actually in a Confederate group on ROBLOX but we don't support slavery! We just have fun.
