As much as you'd expect someone to believe in progress.

Progress isn't really a partisan idea, so it is foolish to say one party shies away from progress while the other promotes it.

Not at all.

Conservatives tend to shy away from any societal progress whether it be private, social, governmental, etc.

Mildly

They believe in the concept, but are inconsistent.

I personally don't see how conservative ideologies progress society in any way, most of their ideologies are primitive, out-dated and downright ignorant.

@briantheliberal, is your definition of progress turning our back on the founding?
briantheliberal says2015-04-01T22:58:17.1464099-05:00
No, my definition of progress is not submitting ourselves and sticking to outdated viewpoints and ideologies.

Conservatives by definition can't be progressive.

Are you saying freedom and liberty are outdated?
briantheliberal says2015-04-02T01:07:37.1872820-05:00
Logical fallacy. You can't argue for or against something by claiming it's something else. Freedom and liberty are relative terms. I can just as easily say "Oh you're against liberalism? Why are you against freedom and liberty?" - It doesn't work that way.

Actually it does. Liberals ate very anti freedom. Freedom is defined as negative rights and liberals try to impose on them while REAL conservatives protect them.

Okay all of you, let me make this simple. Liberalism: More power to government, less to individual. Hopes that government intervention in more parts of life will decrease poverty and therefore crime. Conservatism: More government power then libertarians, somewhat less to individual. Hopes that some government intervention (not as much as liberals) will help society. Libertarianism: Government only needed to keep people from harming each other, therefore government only creates and defines laws for justice, and prevent monopolies. Let everything else be privatized.

I guess it depends on your view of progress and in what areas.
Texas14 says2015-04-02T17:08:25.6764225-05:00
I'm not talking about liberalism. I'm talking about the status quo.

Liberals are just a bunch of communists. Hell-bent on destroying America.

Most liberals arent communists and im pretty sure they dont have the goal of maniacally destroying their own country. Thats comoletely illogical. Just because you disagree with something doesnt mean they have evil intent.
