  • Of the several definitions of "terrorism", acts of violence like this can be classified as acts of terror. It all depends on the definition you use.

  • It's a hate crime.

  • Nah cuz he wasn't Mozlem. Only Mozlem's are terrorists. Errybody know dat. It's curmon sernse. No way a Caucasian dude cud be identified as a terrorist. I mean, don'tchu watch da news? He most likely mentally ill. So iz okay. He can kill who he wanna kill. Don't be stoopid.

  • The kid had radical racist ideologies, obviously had an issue with Black people. I'd say it was a hate crime, the FBI's definitions of different types of terrorism doesn't align with any of the actions of the perpetrator...at all. There was no coersion, the act itself did not appear to have been perpetrated in order to change the ideas of anyone. It was a hateful person, carrying out a hateful act.

  • We all know the flag did it!!! So therefore, strictly speaking, it is an act of patriotism!

Reece: You obviously never heard of anarchism or communism.

@PetersSmith I bet i could beat each example you give 10 fold with right-wing terrorism. I wouldn't consider anarchism or communism terrorism but you still have a point. Terrorism is relative.

Recently, almost all US domestic terrorism has been the far right. If you go back to the late 60's early 70's you can find more left, but not much now.

For those who read my answer, I hope you don't actually believe that's what I think. Sadly, it is what happens most of the time when a shooting occurs. Usually it is a Caucasian man and usually he is "mentally ill," but God knows. And when people hear the word 'terrorism', they immediately think 'Muslims', so I don't know if people would consider Dylann Roof as a terrorist but their thoughts are irrelevant in this case. Dylann Roof IS a terrorist. He was not planning on shooting the church from head start. His plan was to shoot up a college/university in Charleston. That is an act of terrorism. That was his intention, to terrorize college students and professors. Was he racist? Seems so. Was this a hate crime? Maybe. Who knows. But his African American friend stated that he never showed hate towards him or African Americans. That he had told him he was going to shoot up a college in seven days, and that they had seven days to live. But he resorted to the church, and some assume that this is so because universities/colleges have tight security, cameras, cops, etc and that he wouldn't have known how to get passed that, whilst the church has no security and no cops and so that's where he chose to terrorize. Since he never had the intention in the beginning to terrorize and murder African Americans, but instead to do so to college students whom are of different ethnicities then I wouldnt say his intention was for it to be a hate crime, but terrorism. However, in the end it did seem like a hate crime because all the victims happened to be African American. I still think he's racist though. What an a$$hat.

Terrorism: the use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims.

There was no political aim. He just hated black people.

An attack on a community with the intent of pushing an ideological agenda? Yep... Sounds like terrorism to me

It all depends on the definition of terrorism that you use.
