  • Laser reflectors are there and have been used to determine the distance to the moon from earth. They were installed by several of the Apollo missions.

  • No. The Russians (The people who would have called America out right away) even confirmed that it happened. An conspiracy theory against it stems from ignorance and scientific illiteracy.

FreedomBeforeEquality This poll is asking whether the 1969 Moon Landing was a hoax, not any of the other Apollo Missions.

So... The conspiracy theory now is 11 was a fake, 12 (13 no landing) 14-17 were real?

Why fake the first and not the others ... They used the same exact tech to do the others. They had the technology to do it the first time, then. So logically what reason would there be to not have used it when they did, and shoot a hoax video instead? Seems like more trouble than its worth to me. Occam's Razor. Learn it ... Live it.

Also consider that the Russians (our closest competitor) were 3 years behind before they had their actual manned setup ready to land on the moon. We were launching Apollo missions 3 sometimes 4 times a year and were already up to Apollo 13 before they were even ready. What would be the point of faking it while we were that far ahead of the game? When we assumed at that time that we would have already landed on it another 3 or 4 times before they were even going to get there anyways. I could see faking it out of desperation if the video was done after 13 and all of the failures between, when it was down to the wire, but there was no reason to at the stage we were at. Also I work for a company that was largely responsible for the gyro stabilization and algorithms used in those programs. I know they were capable of doing what they said they did with them.

FBE - Every year I am more impressed with the accomplishment. Every bit I learn tells me how great the effort was and how successful it (Mercury->Gemini->Apollo) was. I think part of the skeptics.... Stupidity comes from thinking that guys with slide-rulers could do this. Well, when you have a bunch of guys with slide-rulers who are damn smart and really want to get it done, you land on the f**king moon.

Yeah really. Youd think theyd be out trying harder to discredit Newton or Galileo ... Guys that had to write it all out longhand on paper and observe things firsthand in the sky and try to convince people they even happened. Space missions involve way too many people ... Too many moving parts ... To be able to fully cover something like that up.
