Western or Eastern Philosophy

Posted by: Black-Jesus

There are two main schools of philosophy (at least in my books), Eastern and Western. Whose trains of thought do you follow better?

  • Western

  • Eastern

  • There's a clear reason why the Western world has and always will be dominant.

  • I find Western philosophy to be more appealing and it just overall makes more sense to me. Though you can learn some very good life lessons from Eastern philosophy.

  • Seems like every area that embraces western philosophy is far more advanced than the rest of the world.

  • Western philosophy focuses on individual freedom and free speech, but eastern philosophy includes a lot of hierarchy.

  • I suppose everyone normally goes with what they have been taught. I have been taught and have studied western philosophy since college daze.

  • Socrates, Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas, Rene Descartes.

Examples of great Western philosophers would be Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Democritus, while some Eastern philosophers are Lao Tzu, Siddhartha Gautama, Confucius, and Sun Tzu
