What if I said I support same sex marriage, but not abortion?

Posted by: evielovesrocknroll

Marrying the person you love regardless is completely different from killing another human being, especially before he or she is born. At least I think so!

  • Okay?

  • You're a cherry picker!

It means you are pro-same sex marriage and pro-life. What of it?

Abortion is a much more important issue (since it is murdering an innocent human being). Because the pro-life and pro-marriage stances were established in the Bible, it would not make sense to be pro-life and anti-marriage and vice versa.

@ NewLifeChristian Just because a person may use the Bible to defend a position does NOT mean that everyone holding that position believes in the Bible. Plenty of pro-life people are against abortion simply because they see it as murder without caring about what the Bible says on it. And a small minority (and at one time the people running the Soviet Union) of anti-gay people are against gay rights because they believe that "homosexuality is a bourgeois vice" (ridiculous since working class people can be gay too but some people still believe that). Incidentally the Bible suggests the penalty for causing a woman to miscarry should be paying a fine to the baby's father. That would imply that the Bible only bans abortion because it sees it as violating the father's rights not the baby's rights and that if the father willed it abortion would be OK. But then the Bible says a lot of things like prohibiting mixed fabrics and requiring rape victims to marry their rapists and condoning slavery.

I disagree with you, but I see no true connection between the two subjects so I suppose you're fine.

I don't support either. Neither is congruent to my interests. But if I was to pick one I would support abortion
