When will people need to start adressing the problem of overpopulation?

Posted by: RussiaPutinBest

Most world leaders prefer to deny overpopulation is a problem. But soon the earth will run out of resources to sustain so many people with this population increase rate. When will it be time to start doing something or facing destruction?

Overpopulation is mostly likely not a problem.
RussiaPutinBest says2015-08-06T19:28:26.4567073Z
Population capacity for planet earth is around 10 billion. We will reach that by the year 2100 for sure. There are already food and water shortages all over the world.
RussiaPutinBest says2015-08-06T19:28:49.6228558Z
Overpopulation is a huge problem in India also, who will soon have the largest population in the world.
UtherPenguin says2015-08-06T19:30:05.1585400Z
@RussiaPutinBest https://www.google.ca/?gws_rd=ssl#q=fertility+rate+of+india 2-women per child is actually the ideal fertility rate for a country.
RussiaPutinBest says2015-08-06T19:34:34.3226654Z
Actually, China has a one child policy and look how their population is growing.
RussiaPutinBest says2015-08-06T19:35:08.3152833Z
"have a dipping fertility" What is that supposed to mean...
RussiaPutinBest says2015-08-06T19:35:55.9891889Z
In India, and other third world countries it is not uncommon for families to have 10 children.
UtherPenguin says2015-08-06T19:36:01.9952274Z
@RuussiaPutinBest It's dropping actually: https://www.google.ca/?gws_rd=ssl#q=china+fertility+rate China's fertility rate is almost as low as Japan's.
UtherPenguin says2015-08-06T19:37:30.7959944Z
@RussiaPutinBest That is because, in underdeveloped countries, children join the workforce much earlier then other countries, hence they act more like an extra income earner. So more children actually adds more wealth to the family if anything else.

@RussiaPutinBest Over population has already been discussed. Solutions to the problem have already been chosen.
RussiaPutinBest says2015-08-06T19:42:19.8452495Z
More and more people are starting to live to over a hundred years old. Also, less people are dieing from disease. Fertility is irrelevant if many more people are being born than dieing. Also, humans, especially the rich capitalists are wasteful in terms resources. Also, overpopulation is linked to pollution, global warming, and water shortages.
RussiaPutinBest says2015-08-06T19:43:00.0623073Z
Thank you reece for acknowledging the problem, but the population of this planet will reach 10 billion by 2100, if not earlier. These measures are not enough.
RussiaPutinBest says2015-08-06T19:43:28.6884908Z
People must colonize other planets. Mars might be a good place to start.
Lavaguava says2015-08-06T19:45:12.3561531Z
Why is there no option for: "never". I do not believe that leaders will every enforce correct counter measures, as it will be seen as "inhumane" and "denying basic rights". This is completely moronic however, as it is clear that the planet can not sustain a population even slightly over current levels. I believe that we will reach a critical point where, without knowing it, a population levels is reached that, slowly at first, creates a food shortage. The food shortage becomes worse and worse, until there are widespread deaths.
reece says2015-08-06T19:47:02.6644602Z
@RussiaPutinBest Actually by 2050.
reece says2015-08-06T19:48:46.7327273Z
About 2055-2060 i mean.
reece says2015-08-06T19:51:58.4529585Z
@RussiaPutinBest Don't you want to hear the weird ways we'll combat it?
RussiaPutinBest says2015-08-06T19:53:50.0922719Z
Sure, tell me.
reece says2015-08-06T19:56:56.5396693Z
@RussiaPutinBest Insects are going to become a popular dish ;) I'm talking about insect farms.
RussiaPutinBest says2015-08-06T19:57:59.5846712Z
And what about water? Drain the oceans with desalination?
reece says2015-08-06T19:58:22.8288202Z
They''ll replace the farms we have now.
reece says2015-08-06T20:00:28.5344260Z
@RussiaPutinBest Not sure. I don't know all of what they put in place.

Feeding the growing population is the largest problem with overpopulation. Three main kinds of solutions are available to us to fix the problem. One, decrease the population. Two, remove all forms of food waste. Three, increase food production. The third one is the most feasible.
Wylted says2015-08-06T22:24:21.0666991Z
How many studies does the UN and other world organizations have to fund with the same exact findings that overpopulation isn't a problem, before people catch on. It was a myth created by democrats trying to reduce the world population down to a half a billion. It was justification for the democrats attempting to commit genocide and it's even mentioned on the Georgia guide stones.
RussiaPutinBest says2015-08-06T22:24:35.9024906Z
What about water? That is even more a problem than food. Also, another solution would be colonizing mars.
o0jeannie0o says2015-08-06T22:25:25.1364062Z
I feel the need to point out china wont be having alot more babies, the keep killing the girls. 10 - 1 men to women plus the 1 child policy is probably going to work a little too well.
RussiaPutinBest says2015-08-06T22:25:35.1828706Z
These fools who don't take global warming, overpopulation, and other major problems seriously scare me...

@o0jeannie0o: I think you may have some misconceptions about the one child policy and the amount of sex selective abortions that happen here
58539672 says2015-08-07T00:19:20.7414239Z
The one child policy has already been removed in China.
Foxian says2015-08-07T00:22:17.0537541Z
@58539672: That's not true
58539672 says2015-08-07T00:34:05.5633994Z
China is allowing families of only child parents to have two children as of 2014. Unless China is lying to the foreign media, this is what we are being told.
Foxian says2015-08-07T00:37:28.9263994Z
@58539672: That's only certain provinces allowing that, also you have to apply for that where it's allowed. That's just one of the exceptions the policy has, a more common one is if your first born child is female you can apply for a second child
Mister_Man says2015-08-07T03:09:16.1710824Z
Depends on the location. Places like China and India should have addressed it a while ago, whereas places like Canada and Australia are completely fine.
RussiaPutinBest says2015-08-07T05:13:23.6120221Z
When the world goes to hell in the next hundred years, people will realize how real problems like global warming and overpopulation are. I don't think there is anything more I need to add.
o0jeannie0o says2015-08-07T14:40:58.7987521Z
I do realize it isn't actually 10 - 1 men to women (hyperbole anyone?) but it is incredibly high. "2004, the highest year on record, 121.2 boys were born for every 100 girls. As a result, by 2020, there will be between 30 million and 35 million more Chinese men of marrying age than women." http://qz.com/59398/chinas-ratio-of-boys-to-girls-is-still-dangerously-high-and-its-the-chinese-governments-fault/ Furthermore many men in the places without so many "traditional values" ( cough, cough, religion) men are turning toward other means of pleasure ( such as virtual girlfriends http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-24614830) wile women are submerging themselves in their careers, reducing populations by up to a third.
Roodvlees says2015-08-09T21:46:05.7814829Z
Overpopulation can easily be controlled without any harm, if you're willing to be patient. Help people get a secure pension, reduce child support, free anti-conception, etc.
bballcrook21 says2015-08-09T21:50:44.5577061Z
This will be very controversial, but I will state it anyway. If we were to create a world-wide law about overall usefulness or intelligence, and then implement it with harsh consequences, we would get rid of a lot of people. This will only be fair if there were better conditions in different countries, because this law would get rid of 99% of Africa's population, and would kill billions of people. On the other hand, it would also completely destroy the plague of unintelligence, poverty, crime, etc. The law is: if you do not meet a certain threshold, which will be generated and evaluated by some sort of intelligence system, then you will be executed. Also, we should stop praising sexual activity as a societal norm.
themightyindividual says2015-08-11T23:00:56.8368092Z
There is overpopulation in certain areas of the world but there is vast underpopulation in others. These areas will be the target for development in the coming century and beyond, the birth-rate has slowed in the last couple decades, and will continue to until we reach a climax and it would probably stay around that area until we are wiped out by aliens.
Nopa says2017-09-24T23:33:26.0490203Z
Over population is not the big problem now. The problem is over consumption. If 20% of the population uses 80% of the resources then the problem would be a large growth in that 20%. People in the first world country need to stop using up alot more resources than they need. You do not need 10 pairs of shoes.
