Audi is part of the Volkswagen group. While just a hairs breath from top seller, they are leaps and bounds the top of profitability and general size. Ford, while a very good company, is so far behind. Now, just comparing vehicles gets a little subjective, however, VW has a much greater diversity, offering several models through several name-plates for every one of Fords.
Toyota. All the way. Ford takes government loans. GM takes government bailouts (but nobody likes GM anyway). Honda doesn't have anything to rival the Toyota Land Cruiser. Nor does Jeep, or Audi, or Land Rover, actually, nobody can beat the land cruiser. Vehicle of choice for NATO and UN Peacekeepers. That awesome. That undisputed. Toyota is best.
Having owned one Chevy ( a Vega), one Ford (a Tempo), and one Dodge (a Viper), I can only say I will never buy another car from an American-owned company.
I have found Toyotas to be the most reliable car/truck brand and one of the best buys for the money. I have bought about 7 new Toyota vehicles (I currently own 3) and have absolutely nothing bad to say about those vehicles. They always gave me good value for the money.
I am currently trying to decide between a new Avalon or one of the Lexus cars, although I have heard good things about Infinitys as well.
