  • To be honest, both sides can be equally as intolerant. I'm not giving conservatives or republicans a free pass. There are those who are greedy, bigoted and hateful and I don't deny that, but liberals are just the same. In fact, I see many liberals have a mindset like "if you don't agree with my beliefs you are a bad human being." These are examples: Oppose Barak Obama= racist Oppose same sex marriage= homophobe Oppose Abortion= anti-woman's rights/misogynist Oppose Immigration= racist Oppose Islam= Islamophobic And many more. I've experienced it online and in person. It kind of makes me a upset. I used to support liberalism because I thought they were all about tolerance but really the only time they are tolerant is when you agree with them. I know this isn't the case for ALL liberals. Some actually carry out the DEFINITION of liberal and that is great. I've seen some. In fact, studies have shown that conservatives give more money to charity than liberals do despite the fact liberals always claiming THEY are the generous ones. Like I said at the beginning, I'm not saying ALL conservatives are innocent little angels because that would be lying. I know there are many intolerant ones out there but liberals, remember this: YOU can be JUST as intolerant as they can be. NEVER forget that!

  • A Liberal will call you a fascist, and then turn around and try and silence any criticism in a fascist matter. Conservatives are glad to debate a person one by one where typical Liberals will hide behind the institutions.

  • Conservativws aren't the one to call you something like a xenophobe, racist, islamophobe, etc when discussing slightly controversial views.

  • Liberals are intolerant because they only except views that support their cause for a communist state which only allows for certain views. Given that it is a utopia and utopias are impossible because everybody has different views so they have to be intolerant towards any other view in order to create this. mainly being intolerant towards conservatives in the US because they support freedom not totalitarianism or communism.

  • Social Justice Warriors are the most racist, most sexist, and most bigoted people on the planet.

  • The definition of "intolerant" is, "not tolerant of views, beliefs, or behavior that differ from one's own." Who's the one accusing you of being "heterosexist" (I refuse to use the term "homophobia," it is inaccurate in every way possible) for being against so-called same-sex "marriage"? Who's calling you "racist" for being against AA? Who's accusing you of being "sexist" for not voting for someone just because they are female? You tell me who's intolerant . . .

  • Most of liberals I've met are feminists, SJWs, affirmative action advocates, LGBTs and socialists. Hence the quote by P.J. O'Rouke: β€œAt the core of liberalism is the spoiled child β€” miserable, as all spoiled children are, unsatisfied, demanding, ill-disciplined, despotic and useless. Liberalism is a philosophy of sniveling brats.”

  • When people say "liberals", they tend to imagine the tumblr girls who scream and shout about safe places and yell at anyone who has a differing opinion. However, the fact is that most liberals are moderates. Most people on both sides are moderate. And not only is it my person experience that conservatives are more intolerant than liberals, but the Pew Research Center released a study that showed that Conservatives tend to be more intolerant to liberals, saying more conservatives than liberals tend to avoid making friends with different political opinions, and more conservatives view liberals as a threat to the nation than conservatives. http://www.people-press.org/2014/06/12/political-polarization-in-the-american-public/ 27% of democrats view republicans as a threat to our nation- 36% of republicans view democrats as one. Statistically, republicans are more intolerant. At least, in America they are.

  • Surveys have found that conservatives tend to have a more negative attitude towards racial minorities and LGBTQ people. This is not to say that all conservatives are racist or homophobic, but the overall attitude of conservatives in General tends to be more negative.

I love how Canadians A) Have the maple leaf in two of their major party logos B) Use an American example when discussing their own politics ("These are examples: Oppose Barak Obama= racist")

@justsayinalot, I'm not Canadian. They were the only two pictures I could find that ere appropriate for the topic. I did not even know they were Canadian.

To be fair, is there really a way to oppose islam without being an islamophobe?
Heterodox says2016-08-06T15:39:07.2398679Z
@PanicAtTheDoctor Yes. Disagreeing or Having a different set of beliefs doesn't require an emotion (hatred and/or fear being necessary for someone to be an islamophobe [according to dictionary.Com definition]).

@PanicAtTheDoctor Yes, criticizing the religion for certain doctrines which it actually believes, like say the splitting of the moon, is a legitimate criticism. Questioning the existence of god is a legitimate criticism. However when said attacks become directed at followers of the faith, then that is Islamophobia.

@BrendanD19 "Islamophobia" is an overused word. Radical Islam is a serious threat, and many Muslims should stop holding reactionary views and support (classical) liberal ideas.

@SegBeg So this is an American liberal vs. Conservative debate? Oh. That's disappointing.
justsayinalot says2016-08-07T03:44:20.9821032Z
@triangle.128k Would you say that the term 'Islamophobia' is ever applicable, though?

@justayinalot, it doesn't have to be about American politics. I'm not American I'm British. If you want to talk about Canadian politics you are more than welcome.

In response to jlemon2000, there's a bit of extreme inaccuracy in your statement. Most liberals are not communists, almost none are. The vast majority are moderates and support capitalism or a democratic socialist state. While many of the extreme liberals are totalitarian, the vast majority are not.
