  • Atheists are one of the the most hated demographics in America. Theists hate atheists more than atheists hate theists. ( http://www.pewforum.org/2014/07/16/how-religious-groups-view-one-another/pf_14-07-16_interreligiousrelations_all/ ) Insults flow from that hatred.

  • Believers to the right pls

  • When you worship a book that literally tells you to kill/condemn everyone who isn't the same religion as you, you probably aren't that respectful of others beliefs.

  • TV says donuts are high in fat, kazoo.

  • Type into Google "Atheist stupid". Notice how there is no "auto" fill (the drop-down box when you type in something and it tries to find the most common searches with the words you put in). Now do the opposite with "theists stupid", notice how immediately when you type "theists s-" the "theists stupid" shows up as the first option. What does that tell you?

  • Tough call really. I would say atheists though.

  • I take a lot of heat for my religion from atheists.

  • because they're a minority and that theism is pretty common.

  • they spread propaganda and crap all the time. They are also extremely bigoted.

  • Go to any atheist forum, and it's pretty dang obvious. Go to a religious forum, and they'll be talking about God, not atheism.

  • I've seen a lot more hateful atheists on the internet than hateful theists. I get a lot of crap for being religious.

  • I feel like theists are more likely to use terms similar to "lost" or "misguided."

  • Atheists tend to do this more, but Christians are not completely innocent.

  • I think Atheists are more prejudiced/discriminated against, but Atheists are more likely to call Theists stupid or inferior.

It's too large a question. Http://www.Pewforum.Org/2014/07/16/how-americans-feel-about-religious-groups/ Apparently, Athiests feel better about Buddhists, Hindus, and Muslims, while Evangelical Christians feel better about Catholics and Mormons. Everyone loves the Jews.

Atheists are more likely because they are a minority. If the world was atheistic, religious people would be more likely to call the other side stupid.
PetersSmith says2015-05-03T13:55:41.6678519-05:00
Triangle.128k: Is that how you justify your bigotry?
Death23 says2015-05-03T13:58:35.5864128-05:00
These groups don't speak collectively. Neither group "calls" other groups anything. That's done on an individual level.
triangle.128k says2015-05-03T13:58:59.6343899-05:00
@PetersSmith No wonder your IQ is only 76 points. I barely even make fun of theists and I have nothing against them. I'm not bigoted in any way against theists, please get your facts right.
PetersSmith says2015-05-03T14:01:51.6109947-05:00
Triangle.128k: So you constantly mentioning "mock religions" in your polls and answers isn't making fun of religion?
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-03T14:02:49.2537337-05:00
@Death23, try taking the question as "A member of which group would be more likely to call the other side stupid.".
triangle.128k says2015-05-03T14:07:40.3378655-05:00
@PetersSmith Okay, so mentioning pastafarianism a small number of times because I find it funny makes me an anti-theist idiot? Now I see how your IQ is only 76 points.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-03T14:09:10.1638171-05:00
So many ad hominem attacks.
triangle.128k says2015-05-03T14:09:18.4975033-05:00
You're taking a simple joke too literally.

@PetersSmith
PetersSmith says2015-05-03T14:11:26.5875661-05:00
Triangle.128k: I don't recall me calling you an idiot. And Pastafarianism isn't mentioned a small number of times by you, although you certainly mention Santaism much more often. Also, using one statement I have made to technically call me "stupid" in reference to my IQ is certainly not very logical.
triangle.128k says2015-05-03T14:15:04.6117804-05:00
First off, I used the santaism and pastafarian jokes to mock religious extremists, like the people whom say you go to hell if you don't agree with them. And like I said before, making a few jokes and mock religions does not mean i'm completely against religion.
triangle.128k says2015-05-03T14:16:08.7171831-05:00
Also, saying your IQ is 76 is indirectly calling yourself stupid. 76 is such a low IQ number, even if IQ isn't that accurate like some scientists say, an IQ of 76 is crazy.
PetersSmith says2015-05-03T14:16:19.0445155-05:00
Triangle.128k: And then of course there's you saying that faith schools restrict logic and scientific reasoning and that young creationists are "definitely more ignorant" than evolutionists. But what do I know? My IQ is only 76 points.
PetersSmith says2015-05-03T14:20:06.0274255-05:00
Triangle.128k: And is it appropriate to point out my IQ in an argument?
triangle.128k says2015-05-03T14:25:21.4970021-05:00
Watch the documentary "Faith school menace" by Richard Dawkins and you'll see my point. Faith schools enforce a religion on young children instead of letting them decide for themselves. The people running faith schools also make sure that children can't properly question their religion.
triangle.128k says2015-05-03T14:26:08.8024154-05:00
And creationism is absurd, there are theists that believe in evolution. How are creationists not more ignorant?
triangle.128k says2015-05-03T14:27:11.6312268-05:00
If you're going to judge me based off my poll votes, remember I also said that science and religion can co-exist. I also said religion is compatible with world peace. (world peace is pretty impossible in the first place though)
Renegader says2015-05-03T14:27:38.6697203-05:00
LOL santaism
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-03T14:28:56.4613155-05:00
"And creationism is absurd, there are theists that believe in evolution. How are creationists not more ignorant?" Do you consider all creationist to be ignorant?
PetersSmith says2015-05-03T14:30:10.8003789-05:00
Triangle.128k: Because it's Richard Dawkins is anti-religious. And there are creationists that believe in evolution as well. And I can judge you based on polls votes and questions, but I don't think you're qualified to judge me based off of one statement, which is an argument you keep on dropping.
triangle.128k says2015-05-03T14:30:21.6893185-05:00
@Mathgeekjoe No, I see most of them as lacking knowledge on the subject of Evolution. It might seem pretty absurd to say "We evolved from another species" but if you look at all the facts and such, you'll see why it's true.
PetersSmith says2015-05-03T14:30:50.6432897-05:00
Because it's Richard Dawkins is anti-religious* said with a sarcastic tone. Evidence: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antireligion
triangle.128k says2015-05-03T14:31:05.1464160-05:00
A creationist might have great knowledge in many ways, but the subject of Evolution definitely isn't one.
triangle.128k says2015-05-03T14:32:18.1604117-05:00
@PetersSmith That's called theistic Evolution, not creationism. -_-
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-03T14:32:42.3251215-05:00
I personally don't believe in the current theory of macroevolution. Do you consider my belief ignorant?
triangle.128k says2015-05-03T14:32:53.6040661-05:00
A creationist can't believe in Evolution, if they do then they're a theistic evolutionist.
PetersSmith says2015-05-03T14:33:21.8404281-05:00
Triangle.128k: Theistic evolution, theistic evolutionism or evolutionary creationism are views that regard religious teachings about God as compatible with modern scientific understanding about biological evolution. The terms can be used interchangeably.
triangle.128k says2015-05-03T14:33:38.2949439-05:00
@Mathgeekjoe The definition of ignorant is lacking knowledge so I would see you as lacking slight knowledge on the theory of Evolution. "macro" and "micro" evolution are the same thing in different time periods.
triangle.128k says2015-05-03T14:34:23.5561059-05:00
@PetersSmith When people say "creationism" or "creationist" by meaning, they are talking about evolution-deniers.
TBR says2015-05-03T14:36:26.9212009-05:00
Well this went downhill. I guess I didn't have an expectation of anything else.
PetersSmith says2015-05-03T14:37:09.4709650-05:00
Triangle.128k: Do you have a source that defines creationism by meaning as evolution deniers?
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-03T14:38:03.1881427-05:00
""macro" and "micro" evolution are the same thing in different time periods." Aren't stacking a pile of bricks a yard high and stacking a pile of bricks thousands of miles high the same thing at different scales?
PetersSmith says2015-05-03T14:40:09.1148495-05:00
Triangle.128k: Because when I think of creationism I automatically assume it's about a god(s) creating the Universe and/or life, and evolution is a separate argument based on context (such as with abiogenesis).
triangle.128k says2015-05-03T14:40:59.9715015-05:00
@Mathgeekjoe Yeah, it's the same thing on different time scales. If one keeps on stacking bricks non-stop and gets them one yard high, we can calculate that eventually the bricks will become a thousand miles high. Evolution is proven to not stop so eventually, organisms are going to change to a point where we can consider them as different species.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-03T14:44:10.4967441-05:00
Could you stack the bricks 22237 miles high?
triangle.128k says2015-05-03T14:45:56.9734943-05:00
No because the bricks would fall down from going too high. But, do you see a creature exploding from evolving too much?
Death23 says2015-05-03T15:16:59.5814730-05:00
I think people are relying too much on personal experience in their response to this poll.
TheHappyReaper says2015-05-03T15:23:03.4130529-05:00
I agree with Death
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-03T16:38:19.1849398-05:00
"No because the bricks would fall down from going too high. " No, falling down isn't a problem with going that high.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-03T16:57:55.6469155-05:00
"I think people are relying too much on personal experience in their response to this poll." Well you are relying too much on a feeling survey. Just because people feel negative towards something doesn't mean that they vocally insult them. The best way to answer this poll is to look at the vocal insults that are spread around. Often atheist, despite being a minority (in 2008 they were .7% of the population) are a very vocal group. Theist are in the majority (about 77% of the population in 2008). So if the insults resultings were equal in use, you would expect to see about 11 times more theist calling the other side stupid, than atheist. It would be fairly obvious if there was 11 times more insults from theist. But since it is actually debatable which has produced more insults, it is clear that there isn't an 11 times difference. Thus it can be assumed that atheist are far more likely to call the other stupid.
TBR says2015-05-03T17:02:04.2968171-05:00
Mathgeek, this may be unfair, but which group is more likely to tell the other group they are going to hell or tell the other group they are immoral?
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-03T17:46:09.5581482-05:00
"Mathgeek, this may be unfair, but which group is more likely to tell the other group they are going to hell or tell the other group they are immoral?" Well that wasn't was the question was asking, it was asking about the use of the word stupid. Of course to answer your question, theist, but that makes logical sense. Theist are the only people to believe in hell so of course they are going to say it more often. And as for morals, religion talks about morals so it makes sense that theist would accuse the other side of having less morals.
TheHappyReaper says2015-05-03T19:51:10.6824973-05:00
It's strange that people argue about religion
58539672 says2015-05-03T21:38:46.0041776-05:00
Can't we all just be happy with our own beliefs and leave everyone else alone. What does anyone gain from these Theist vs. Atheist arguments?
TBR says2015-05-03T21:59:18.5168737-05:00
@58539672 - It, religion, effects every facet of our life's. No, we can't just pretend it makes no difference.
58539672 says2015-05-03T23:49:55.0447563-05:00
@TBR Actually you can. Its rather simple... Believe in your own ideology, and don't try to force that ideology onto others. Your connection (or lack thereof) to God is personal to you and has no standing with what other people believe. People trying to justify their own beliefs by providing evidence that supports themselves or discredits others is unnecessary because NO ONE needs to justify themselves in regards to religion. Trying to prove the Theist/Atheist wrong effects your life in no way and provides you with no gain. It is pointless.
TBR says2015-05-04T00:01:34.0213677-05:00
"@TBR Actually you can. Its rather simple... Believe in your own ideology, and don't try to force that ideology onto others. Your connection (or lack thereof) to God is personal to you and has no standing with what other people believe." - This is naive. Every president has said "God bless" during SOTU. Religion "infects" every facet of our life's. I can't walk out my door without religious symbols littering the landscape. This is fundamental to people.
TheHappyReaper says2015-05-04T06:31:11.1891989-05:00
It's less of agreeing with each other, more of the fact that it just seems pointless. In the end, we are all going to die. Fact of life. Whatever happens next is a mystery. Why not let it stay that way?
58539672 says2015-05-04T11:56:24.3407420-05:00
@TBR And how do any of those things effect you? Does the President saying, "God Bless" somehow threaten your view on religion? Do people showing religious symbols offend you? If the president wants to say "God Bless" or a neighbor wants to wear a cross neckless, then that is their right to do so. Just as it is your right to do (or don't do) they same. Their beliefs do not effect your own connection with religion in any way. And their is still no gain to be had by causing these fights between Theists and Atheists. Be happy with your own beliefs and leave others to be happy with theirs.
